<description>I found this book more interesting and more relevant to today&#039;s Palestine than I thought I would:

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0520203704.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

It talks about historical social and economic factors that shaped society and economy in Nablus and its surrouding areas, but much of it applies to other parts of Palestine and the Levant (bilad al-sham). It is written in academic style so needs concentration to read. The author is a friendly guy who took time to speak to me via email.

This is the first and only book I ever read (parts of it) about the Crusades. It is written from a Christian prespective, but I did not find any of it that contradicted what I learned about the history of the Crusades based on Islamic sources. I thought it was as objective as a book of this type can be. Written like a story format so quite nice and interesting to read.

Salam,
