Aah.. the wakeful nights.

insomnia_by_mohammad_nady.jpgWell here I am again. Suffering from insomnia.. this time it is getting worse. I take my medication to sleep and I wake up 2 hours later. No reason. No noise to wake me up or dreams. Just wake up like it was a full 8 hour sleep. I am diagnosed with transient insomnia. Insomnia lasting from one night to a few weeks is referred to as transient. Most people occasionally suffer from transient insomnia due to such causes as jet lag or short-term anxiety. So I take my medication for one or two nights.. then somehow I become immune to it and it doesn’t work anymore. It’s like that with any medicine I take. I think my white blood cells just work extra hard for any foreign object. Even Ibuprofen type of medication for headache and migraines stop working.

This is really bad for me. I cannot keep going on like this. I come to work feeling lazy and unmotivated from the lack of sleep. Aah when will it stop. I don’t remember I had a good night sleep in a long time.. the medication however is great because I don’t have weird dreams. But when it stops working and I spend half the night awake I get very odd dreams especially when I fall asleep again at 5 am! So I had a dream this morning that was really weird. I was dressed as a bride and had my hair done and everything ready for my wedding and then I just left. I didn’t want to be there. I just walked away and took off the dress and just started walking in the streets seeing people. No reason. Then I went to this bakery and got some weird dessert. (Even in my dreams I think of candy! :D ) .. anyways.. so that was it. .. isn’t that the weirdest thing ever.

I looked it up and it says:

Weddings

To dream of a wedding is a sign of a death and a funeral. There are various other meanings, but this one has always been the cardinal rule for weddings as they symbolize new beginnings, but only at the cost of the death of the former ‘life’. This death could mean various types of endings, not necessarily that of the body.

Bride

Frequently a literal representation of anticipated matrimony. If the bride has no face, this indicates the identity of one’s future mate is uncertain or unknown. If a fiancée fails to appear at the alter, this may be a common “wedding anxiety dream, or it may signal doubts about the success of the marriage. Brides in dreams can also represent marriages of businesses, new job opportunities, or a new career direction.

Anyways I need better sleeping aids. NyQuil will do it! That stuff is dangerous! Also I feel like I have a cold all the time. Maybe I am just sick with lots of virus and germs in my body that the army of white blood cells are working on..

You might be surprised to know that I was suffering from the same thing. And here’s what I did and everything became fine again
I travelled to Jordan, and under the strict rules of the house, everyone was asleep at around 11+ PM, causing even me to get into a state where I fell asleep as well! (reason for the rules is the presence of small children)
I have no idea how to describe it, but if you want my tried and tested solution, just do the following, be EXTRA strict about sleeping hours, go to bed and do NOTHING (like no reading, no laptop in bed …etc)
Give it a shot, if it works, you can thank me later, if it doesn’t… well your next coffee is on me :)

I can’t sleep in complete silence. Quiet music or some “white noise”.

What do you do for physical activity? When you have a desk job like yours, you need to balance it out with some heart pumping exercise like running, playing a sport or walking the dog. When I was kid I was always moving and never had trouble sleeping at night but now that I am older I am less physically active and sit more in front of the computer and consequently I have more trouble sleeping. :animal2:

That’s good but what happens when those extra strong pills no longer work because your body has built up a resistance to them? Gravol for me doesn’t do the trick any more. We’ll be walking chemical factories by the time we are 40! ;)

Look if anything if you have trouble sleeping you should try some natural remedies such as the tea and other stuff but also try home made carrot juice. WBR LeoP
