Arabic letters are a form of terrorism?

By: Mona
.......................

Actually I will begin by explaining what sparked this idea to my head. After work I passed by the University to the student’s community center, and there was a display of media propoganda. Well that is what I assumed. For a minute I thought it was Jewish day or something cause I saw bunch of pictures of Rabiis and stuff. To me I don’t care much about politics and stuff. Than one picture caught my eye. So I used my crappy cell phone and my shaky hand and took a picture of this:

snap0009.jpg

I know it is not clear. It is a man wearing a cover on his face. Wearing a beret type hat. Has a pipe in his mouth and wearing a belt around his shoulders filled with bullets. I looked at it and smack it says terrorist in bold red letters? To me I looked and thought dear God they are saying that Palestinians who are defending their land are called terrorist. But looking closer it wasn’t a Palestinian. Or an Arab. I wasn’t even sure where this person is from. I think it is a type of media propaganda. That a man with his face covered is labeled as a terrorist. The reason I had to think about it for a minute is because I looked around the other photos displayed and saw a bunch of pictures of various situations that the media may label as something completely different than it actually is. They do say a picture is worth a 1000 words. But for the media it is their way to sway from the truth and present visual images and explain it to the audience in a negative way in only one word!

We will not be silentSo I searched online for the word “Arab Terrorist”. First thing I got was articles about the Isreali-Arab conflict arguing about did occupation start first or terrorism started first that led to occupation? I was like wtf? Terrorism? People who are defending their land and want to die for it are called Terrorist? I was like ok. Media propaganda right there! Then I came to an article about an Iraqi man in an Airport heading to New York who was asked to take off his t-shirt because it had Arabic letters on it saying “We will not be silent” in Arabic and English, and the people boarding the plane were afraid of him. So being an Arab brings people fear?

So you know what.. I will get a t-shirt specially made for me saying:

and kiss my Palestinian ass!

You know what enrages me more than that…

An Arabian guy being shy of being Arabian. A school teacher once said to us -in the class-: if you’ve been in US, don’t say that you are Arabian, say that you are Turkish; they look like us…
    Grrrrrrrrr

I’m not saying that we “Arabs” are better than others. but if I was born as a RAT I will be proud of that.

It is sad that arabs are being labeled this way. I dated an Omani for eight years and this was during 9/11 and people kept telling me to break up with him blah blah. We stayed together until he had to return to Oman. Unfortunatley his family did not approve of me, long story but I had to either move on or go crazy with the sadness of this. I have always been fascinated with Arabic culture and the Middle East. Unfortunately too much negativity is put in the media regarding this ancient part of the world. I wish things could change. :tatty2.gif:

    Asalamu Alaikum,
“ONE MAN’S TERRORIST IS ANOTHER MAN’S FREEDOM FIGHTER!”

I think arabians in general are a proud and outspoken people which is why that pic of man in tshirt is sooooo relevant… the sad part is that anger and ignorance is what’s blinding them towards arab and muslims!!! we are all put into 1 category based on what 2% of the religion thinks!! The losers who don’t like us need to be schooled on the culture first thing and the religion next!!! Not all arab are MUSLIMS! Mona… you have a real responsibility to use this website to change ppl’s mind! i think it’s a great thing and please do more!!! Salam, bint al yemen

    Speaking of terrorism:

George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).

George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.

Many people know what Bush did.

And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.

    Bush was absolute evil.

Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.

    Bush is a psychological prisoner.

Bush has a lot to worry about.

Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.

In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memory so it never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off of the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.
