Harry Potter Mania

By: Mona
.......................

All I hear is people’s obsession with Harry Potter. I never seen any of the movies until yesterday. Yesterday I went to the book store, Chapters, and it was the night before the new Harry Potter book! Everyone was there waiting. Sitting in lines. Waiting for the release of the new book! This was nothing. The employees there were all dressed like they were characters from the book. The entire book store was changed in decoration to be the same as the story. I was like WTF! Why all this obsession! Why is everyone reading this book and watching the movies for! So I decided to buy the first book! I was like I am reading this crap no matter what. Not only that, I went and bought the whole DVD set. (On Sale) 8 dvd set of all the Harry Potter 4 movies.

So last night I watched the first one. I was like wow. I was like double wow. After all these years, after so many crappy fantasy movies I have seen in the past, this tops them all! I was like wow. I want to see the rest. Since today I was out all day and I didn’t have time to watch it. I got 3 more to go, and the first book to read. Hehehe. I am reading far too many books at once, but dammit. I want to be like the rest of those obsessed people. I want to read and watch Harry Potter!

wow, that’s great, it’s a successful series of course, i liked the movies up to now, by the way each movie is carried out by a different director each time, i like that cuz it makes the whole thing rocking for me..

It’s the idea itself, most people like legends and myths, and i’m one of those of course.

I have started reading the last book of Harry Potters. The reason I like Harry Potter books is they are pure fantasy. It takes my mind away from the troubles of the real world for a little while. I think that is why fantasy books like Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings are popular. I realize Harry Potter is not everyone’s cup of tea but I think there are few people out there that don’t like fantasy books of some sort.

If you read the Harry Potter books in chronological order, you will notice the books becoming darker and sinister in plot to go along with the character getting older and facing more adult like problems. It should be interesting to find out how J.K. Rowling ends this series of books.
    :D

I watched one of the movies on TV one night because there was nothing else on. I thought the story was silly but the effects were decent. Never read any of the books though and don’t think I will. I didn’t like Lord of the Rings either…hmm…

But good for you Mona, glad you enjoyed the movie :)

The book was geared for children and it just took off. I admire the author because she was a single mom on welfare and now look. A billionaire. I am like…you go girl! :tatty2.gif:

I have to agree with Roba. I watched the first 4 movies on DVD as something to do with my grandson and thought that they were half good. Then I got my hands on a couple of his books and discovered that they contain so much more detail than what the movies contain. My advice… put the movies aside and read all the books first, then watch the movies. They’ll make lots more sense then.
