I noticed this…

By: Mona
.......................

I have been noticing the ethnicity and the origin of the people that post comments on my blog. I hardly get any Arabs. Arabs only comment when there is a controversial issue about country, politics, or Arabs in general. When I post a regular thought about every day life, I barely get any Arabs posted. I get a variety of different ethnicity. Especially American or European origin.

I find it quite odd and very strange. Is my blog lacking Arab popularity? Or my thoughts are all over the place and TOO real that I attract all different races?

Maybe I like it this way. A variety of people. A variety of ethnicities and cultures that comment on my site not because I am an Arab, but because I am just another human being with every day life thought that I like to share. I like it. I really do and I am glad that my writing is beyond that Arab patriotic realm. Although I posted a while back about Ashamed being an Arab, but still. I am what I am and I am glad there are different people out there who just like my blog for who I am, and not where I am from. I like it. :)

I think that arabs doesn’t comment on personal stuff coz they are shy and not courageous enough to say their point of view neither to share their personal experiences. So they just stick on general topics like politics which necessitates a conformist point of view especially from us the arab people…

I know Asmaa.. that’s sad though.. Arabs in general should try to be them selves and be more real. Not just focusing on politics and patriotism.

I do not agree with you. I know many Arabs not living in the West writing blogs in English and posting in English blogs owned by Arabs.

I just knew about your blog by a Google search.

I like many blogs written by Muslims living in the West.

And, why you see Arabs responding to some specific posts in your blog, well, I believe people are motivated to responding to topics that are controversial. I read many posts written by non-Muslims responding to posts written by Muslims about Islam. When the topic of discussion comes to religion people are moved to write a response, to discuss, to defend ot to flame. It is the nature of all people, not confined to a certain ethnicity.

    Glad knowing you!

Ja… there really aren’t a lot of Arabs who go into self-expression and such. Most of the male Arab buddies I had were into more scientific or mathematical disciplines of academia. Personally, I enjoy those things AS MUCH as the more introspective, expressive passion that art has to offer. I refuse to live as a dead stone. I am Arab, and Persian actually; an even rarer mix considering they both hate each other, heh.

    Hi,
I am a student at the University of Maine at Farmington.
I was given an assignment to make a plan on how I can teach students to not bully and the image you have with all of the different faces making one person would be perfect for my brochure. i was wondering if I could use this picture.

    Thank you
    Tamra-Jo Parker

i don’t know what to say but will try to comment on few things that you’ve mentioned, well first of all you have got to define arabs cos there are real arabs and fake arabs, thats if you truly understand your backgrounds, you stated that you are not proud of being arab, this thing annoys me cos if you are not proud of who you are then basically you belong to nowhere, you also said arabs dont comment on your personal daily stuff that you come and jot themdown and they arre only comenting on major issues that are more important than what you routinly do, nevermind i havent even read any of your blogs to comment on that, cos honestly i have no time, i dont mean to give you grief or something its just the idea of not being proud of your origin, WE ARE THE BEST NATION FOR MANKIND.

Yep.. and that’s why I decided to start an Arab international magazine.. because I am sooooooooooo against my culture and people. Please get over it and don’t judge me from one post and one bad day. Jeez.
