Where is it?
I came home today, and I ate my dinner.. I went to my room, and my dad came up stairs to my room with a somewhat angry face. I was like, holy crap, what the fuck didn’t I do now? So he comes in and says, “what happened to all the Baklava your brother brought back from Montreal?” I said, “aah.. aah.. hmm.”

He said, “did your mom hide all of it… again!! ”
I said, “well, probably, cause I was looking for it too yesterday and I couldn’t find any. Not even in the fridge.. ”
He said, “did your brother hide it then.. ah?”
I said, “I doubt it, I think he is looking for it too.”
He said, “fine. It must be your mother. Our family (our last name) is a lot nicer and NEVER hide candy like your mothers (my mom’s last name) family.”
I said, “ok.”
Why do husbands always blame the wife’s entire family name for candy?
I laughed hysterically after he left.
Few minutes later, he calls my brother.
My brother then comes back upstairs and says, “what.. am I supposed to go back to Montreal now and get more candy that cost a few bucks?”
I thought holy crap..
Where is the missing candy… maybe MOM knows or my brother is lying..
My dad will never learn.. he has type two diabetes and takes pills daily.. he will just never learn! He has a major sweet tooth.. worse than mine!
I bought chocolate after work.. I don’t care. I want my energy and my happiness!

So the baklawa is called candy in your house? LOOOL
We have the opposite problem, people bring us those arabic sweets as gifts when they come visit (we have a whole bunch from eid now) and they literally just SIT! Noone eats them. I just don’t like to eat deserts that aren’t moist and they’re way toooo sweet, I guess the rest of the family feels the same thing. We’re all about the sugar cookies and the fruit tarts when it comes to desert!
in our house, my dad hides all the sweets! LOL!!!! I still think your mom stashed them some place! HAHAH!!
for a good place of baklava, i would sell my soul to the devil!

I feel for you. My dad has type II diabities, ours is genetic runs back all the way to great-grandmother. He is skinny, not overweight. He suffered through four heart attacks and a stroke. Did I mentioned he used to smoke from the time he was 14 until the age of 62. He is still with us but like your dad………will go after the candy and diabitics can be very irritable a LOT! I understand if your mom hid the candy. We used to throw dad’s away.
BTW I LOOOOVVEEEEE Baklava….such a sinful
delight…
The whole mothers family thing must be universal my dad does it too and it’s really irritating. I thought it was kind of funny over sweets though even if he was serious.
I’ve only had it a handful of times but…mmm baklava, indeed.
