I am a Programmer! Therefore, you are stupid!

By: Mona

Google Buzz

I find it quite intriguing how some people email me saying that they stumbled to my site by mistake searching for something completely irrelevant to my site, and they end up here. Then they read one of my 3 or 4 controversial posts and they get mad at me and then say, “I was searching for something but I ended up here, and as an Arab I disagree with your lifestyle and thoughts. You know nothing about being an Arab.”

First off, you were not searching for “something completely irrelevant to my site.” You came here looking for “Arab Girl.” or “Dating Arab Girl” or “Arab Girl and Guy.” Don’t think I am stupid and I have no idea how you got here. I didn’t hire someone to put my site up or make a custom template for me. No. I did it all by my self. I am a PROGRAMMER. I know it sounds wrong, how can an Arab girl be a programmer, and actually be GOOD at it and knows everything? I know the ins and outs of everything that has to do with my site. I know it all!

That’s the problem with blogs and visitors. Who is smarter? Really. You come here claiming you are an angel from the heavens and wanting to help me and my deranged thoughts, yet you are the one with horrible intentions and ended up here by “mistake.” You read some of my posts and email me to tell me your life story and how wrong I am. We are all different people with different lives and experiences. My site portrays my opinions and only my opinions and my life! I am open to discussion, but not someone telling me that their life is totally different and I am telling lies because I am not like them and life is not like that for an Arab in the Western World.

The most common thing that people tell me is, “you never lived back home, so you don’t know how it feels to move from back home to here.”

Hmm.. I wasn’t born in Canada, and I came here when I was 16. Arabs can be stupid, judgmental, and just like to make any assumptions to satisfy their point and make them selves superior and the ultimate truth can only come out of their asses mouths.

I hear you and I agree with what you say. You know, they are just wrong, so wrong.
I am frustrated at people myself! Therefore, I wrote my post about open minded and perverted thingy… I know it is irrelevant to your post, but I think we’re both coming from the same place.

I completely agree with you. With everything that you’ve said. I wrote a similiar post about this myself, they didn’t tell me about it. But I heard bad things about me from someone else… even when different bloggers, it’s completely none of their business if you write anything that is, “Woow. Look at what she wrote!”

I know I kinda went to a different subject.. but my point is people need to just chill, seriously, I’m tired of others acting like angels. Seriously, it’s just a blog.

Well perhaps this comment is not so kind, but I admit I came here after typing a search for “Arabic Girl.” My skin is darker than the average Canadian but thats about as close as I come to being anything remotely close to Arab.

I’ve been following the discussion of women in the video game industry currently going on at the MTV (and related) blogs, and there was some discussion of programmers in the comments at various sites. Consensus seemed to be that programmers are usually the one who think they are better than everyone else–because they’re indispensable, they have a license to be jerks and you can’t fire them.

Does that mean I think you’re like that? How the hell should I know, I’ve been here for what, 5 minutes? But this post has interested me, so I guess I’ll be coming back to find out.

I love your comment.. I don’t find my self superior because I am a programmer, on the contrary, I feel smarter than the average or even most of the web surfers. I just don’t like being fooled and lied to and expect me to take people’s insults and rubbish. I like to defend my self forcefully and I will use any method to do so.

It is fine that you only typed Arab Girl in Google and nothing else. Maybe another day I will post all the search terms people use to get to my site. It is VERY VERY disturbing!

    Hi ..
I agree with some stuff, disagree with others. The usual. However, just wanna make one point .

” am a PROGRAMMER. I know it sounds wrong, how can an Arab girl be a programmer, and actually be GOOD at it and knows everything?”

What are you talking about ? I come from a religous family, my sister is a programmer ! and guess what she has an MBA too, all cousins, relatives ..etc atleast they have their university education ( nt even college) . The idea you have about Arabs come from personal experience am guessing. Are there women opressed in Arab world, ofcourse there are. Are they the majority, no they’re not ! And usually the opression of women happen in either rural areas or very poor ones, meaning not educated ones, neither the man nor the woman. It’s true changes in the Arab world should happen, but that doesnt generalize the issue. In north america itself, Women have not been treated well for that long. In the 1800s in the canadian courts ( i live in canada ) a question was raised, do we consider the woman a human being or not ! And we know women didnt have the right to vote till 1920 (approx) in US.

As a conclusion am just saying, the situation is not THAT BAD, and it’s actually improving as time passes, however if we have the 20% (for example in egypt) under the line of poverty, they will think more how to be fed that sending their women to universities. All am saying, we mention our negatives alot, however, there’s some good out there, and trust me, not hard to find these ppl.

sorry for the long comment.. interesting stuff u have there .. (PN : i didnt search for arab girls or dating to find u :D .. indeed a “white” friend of mine ..she pointed out ur blog .. maybe she did search for arabic girls lolz ! ) .. tc
