A solution?

By: Mona
.......................

Google Buzz

Today I was filling out some form online and I came across this question. It asked: “What do you propose as a solution to the Israel/Palestinian conflict?”

I read it and I was like.. Hmm. I am 27 years old. I never been to Palestine. My dad is 56, my mom is 55, and they never been to it either. They were born in Lebanon because their parents became refugees in 1948 and lived in refugee camps for almost 60 years. So this question asked me, what is the solution?

The solution?

What the hell is the solution?

So I answered simply, “Stop fighting! Just live in peace so I can go back!”

Oh I mean it. I am sick of the wars. I was born out of hatred to other human beings. I was born to hate others because of what they did to us. I don’t want to hate no more. I don’t want to hear about fighting. I am sick of all the blood shed. I got to the point where I am sick of reading the news. People can’t live in peace! We all want to live in peace! Not just Arab Muslims. Also Arab Christians and Arab Jews. We just want to live in the land were we all have been living in for centuries. Who cares who had it first? Who cares who came from where and who is more powerful. We were all meant to live together! In peace! That’s all that we want. To live amongst our people. To not be spread all over the world. I don’t know my family. I don’t know my cousins, or their kids or my aunts and uncles. Everyone is spread out all over the world. Why?

I say, the only solution is to stop fighting. Live together in peace. You only get one chance in life. You live it and you die. You can’t go back. So stop it! 60 years this May is too much! We all want to go back and live in peace and build a better society. That’s it!

I want to go back where I belong. That’s the only solution! I was born a Palestenian. It says so on my birth certificate.

And here is a beautiful song by Kevin Spacey (yes the actor) and Bobby Darin about Freedom.

On March 1, 1944, while speaking on Radio Berlin, al-Husayni (grand mufti of Jerusalem) said:

‘Arabs, rise as one man and fight for your sacred rights. Kill the Jews wherever you find them. This pleases God, history, and religion. This saves your honor. God is with you.’[42][43][44]

Four years later Israel became a state and had to defend itself.

    it was FATWA!

are you calling grand mufti of Jerusalem an idiot?

the bloodshed started when Arabs tried to exterminate Jews… today unfortunately so many Palestinian brothers and sisters suffer…

we don’t have a choice, but defend ourselves… we don’t want to be exterminated.

i hope we won’t… though nazis tried 50 years ago. i hope you represent popular Muslim opinion. please keep in mind that Jews always, always, always wanted to live side by side, whereas Muslim leaders wanted to wipe out Judaism, but don’t take my word for it and google what Saudi kings, Egyptian, Iraqi, Jordanian, Lebanese presidents had to say about Jews having a state… for beginners start with http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/article.php?lang=en&ModuleId=10007255

so really, the solution is possible, but it has to be understood that Jews deserve a state because without it we are unwelcome guests everywhere in the world. And we are teachers, doctors, engineers, but not sons of apes and pigs.

Good that we understand one another.. and I know that there were a lot of problems from both sides, but this was many years ago before any of us were born. In the end, all I think about is the future and how to solve things in order for everyone to be happy. No need to fight and kill anymore. And really for what? What to we gain from all this?

Anyways.. thanks for your input. :) I seldom post about this issue, but today I felt like things in the world need to change and we need to speak out. We need to just look forward and think of peace. :) Shouldn’t 2008 be a good year? :)

If only things were that simple.
I doubt there will ever be an end to the fighting..
& Michael please don’t start about the extermination of Jews. Both sides have suffered, but we both know its the Palestinians who have suffered the most, there has been 7 times the amount of Palestinian deaths compared to Israeli deaths.

How could anybody justify the actions of the Israeli government? The fact of the matter is when you make life unlivable for people, just that happens they don’t want to live and they begin to take their aggression out on those who put them in said condition. 75% of Palestinians live on less than a dollar a day because there is basically no industry in Palestine since Israel controls the roads, and the land. The fishing industry which people have made a living off of for generations is almost gone since Palestinians are only allowed to be a certain length off the coast. How could anybody justify making people live in a virtual police state, while basically taking the land of people who have lived there for centuries in order to move in settlers?

    *Sigh*

No solution will ever take place on the occupied lands of Palestine, the state of israel will never allow that to happen and will keep on doing what they’ve been doing for so many years, manipulation of politics, extreme aggression and bloodshed “and thats what you expect from a state that was built with weapons and bloodshed”..at the same time being ass pampered by western zionist controlled countries.

And Mona don’t speak bad of a great man who said that taken out of context “Quote” ..just because he knew Exactly what was planned to happen to the Palestinian lands and people, and of which results you live yourself today among million of Palestinians scattered around the world.

That’s what happens to countries that were under heavy mandates and didn’t even get a chance to be independent.

It’s been weeks since I’ve looked at this sight Mona… looks like you touched a nerve this debate will never end. I lived in Israel for 3 months and Palestine for 2 way back before the second intifada uprising I got a lot of opinions, but I’m only going to share this one. No matter the consequences of what you may think of me… so here it goes.

You are lucky, you are lucky because someone in your family had the fortitude and the common sense to come to North America and leave that shit behind, believe it’s shit. OK I’ve been there and I do believe I am impartial, sure interesting to visit but you don’t want to live there. (Acre was one of my favorite places too, but I wouldn’t trade it for living on the west coast of BC) Acre has been steeped in conflict for centuries Zionism is just the most recent addition, the’ll be others.

You are lucky because in Palestine there is still Honor killings all the time the benevolent palestinian media doesn’t report it because it’s too busy bashing Israel. BELIEVE ME IT IS STILL THERE (I ALMOST GOT A 20 YEAR OLD GIRL THERE KILLED BECAUSE OF ARE CLADESTINE CONVERSATIONS WHICH WERE HARMLESS Your sweet father and brother may have grown up so twisted that they may of killed you because of some of your behavior or remarks…

You are lucky have grown up with out the heavy hatred that is instituted into into you where ever you go, it’s everywhere the streets the coffee shops, the TV, radio… at least in Canada you can escape if if you choose too.

Were both lucky is because in Canada when you watch are media they blow the littlest problems into national debates. We really are the worlds biggest whiners we really do have it good.

The way I see it Mona my ancestors were unlucky when they were kicked of there land in Scotland they lived for centuries by there Landlords, but actually they were lucky ’cause they only struggled for a generation or two. Instead of struggling generation after generation. I love Scotland but I’m glad I live here. The Scots by and large are bloody minded fools. I love ‘em but can’t stand em either.

Hope you understand my rant… (you still rock girl  )

yah I understand what you are trying to say. I guess for us it is different reading and seeing he media. We hate what is going on and what happened in the past and what things have become. We all wish deep down to be a part of a larger group in our own land. But like you said, our societies are not perfect. Many things are not reported, but in the end of the day, if you live life for enjoyment and be a good person, then being in your own land is heaven.

    That’s all! :)
