My mom has been sick for a while now and the doctors in Canada are probably the worse there can be. She kept having foot pains and her feet were always swollen and couldn’t walk much. Until finally, yesterday, after all these weeks and going to doctors back and forth they finally told her she has high blood pressure and diabetes. All this morning I kept getting lectured about diabetes from my mom. She kept saying, “your dad has it too, it’s all in the family, and now me.” I said, “I know, but what about your high blood pressure?” She said, “I took the medicine last night and I was able to sleep.” So today she looked good as new and her feet are not swollen much anymore.
The doctor told her that diabetes has become so common and no longer hereditary as we think.
It’s funny that the other day I told my dad to test my blood sugar cause he has the little needle and strips and he said, “no.” He is afraid to see. I know I am fine physically cause unlike them, I am more physically active and I walk A LOT. However, I have been very depressed and sad lately and all I have been having are really bad headaches and I can’t sleep at all at night.
Later today my mom asks me, “how is the new room at work. Do you like it?”
I bluntly said, “no.”
She said, “why?”
I said, “it’s SMALL and awful.”
She said, “oh no. I didn’t know it was small. That’s not good.”
I said, “yah well. That’s why I keep having headaches. I just feel trapped all the time.”
She said, “so what are you going to do?”
I said, “I don’t know. I really don’t and it is making me sick and tired all the time and no one else is happy either.”
She said, “well, maybe you shouldn’t be working there anymore. Is it right to be in such a small space with so many people? You have been working there for so long. Is this right? Are you ever going to move up and get your own office and different position?”
I said, “No. I am stuck. People in higher power don’t care. No one cares. It’s all about power. That’s just the way humans are.”
I pretty much gave up and just tired. I just took two extra strength headache pills cause I didn’t sleep much last night and I just feel down. I really just want to sleep one night in peace! Just once! ![]()

What if I sing you this song?
‘I long for scenes where man has never trod
A place where women have never smiled or wept
There! To bide by my creator God
and sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept!!!!
Pity that in order to sleep well, you must be a child……..Can you??????

well, Mona I actually am suprised to here we have something in common, my Dad has diabetes (the self inflicted kind) after decades of self abuse not eating right and lack of exercise he came down with a bad case of it. Swollen ankles and all. Some cases are inherited some aren’t; just eat well and get regular exercise and don’t worry about what could happen. P.
