Random Facebook application developers are desperados!
There is a difference between a fun application that brings friends closer together by random interactions than an application that brings no value, no fun, and a money hogging tool. Random Facebook developers are resorting to the lowest methods and schemes of earning money. The advertisements are not enough. The thousands of impressions they get per day are not enough to earn a decent amount of money. They need to resort to methods such as earn your credits by inviting friends. Unlock all the great features of this application by inviting 20 friends. Earn so many credits by applying to credit cards, cell phone SMS ads, fill out forms to win a Wii and more.
The sad part is, that many people will fall for such schemes and not realize that the developers are not providing a tool for entertainment purposes at all. And they are really not going to care how they will improve the application. Applications on facebook are intended for one purpose and one purpose only. It is a fun way to interact with your “friends.” Facebook has become a spamming tool. A money hogging tool, and so many people are falling for it.
I even considered making an application and placing some ads in it. It’s not rocket science. As long as you are a good php programming, then it is a piece of cake. I even see now a days job positions asking for PHP developers to make facebook applications. Well, it better be a damn good one so A LOT more people will add it. Let it be useful to people, and not force people to “earn credits” to use such tools. It’s very unattractive and a very bad way to make an application popular.

I agree! There’s even a group on Facebook called “Official Facebook Petition: To ban the inviting of friends on Applications”. I am a proud member of it.
Yah. I am a member I think. The worse application I tried to use for amusement is those stupid quiz application. You can only see the result if you invite 20 people.. Common!!
I think we all have that one ‘friend’ who finds it necesary to add every single application and barrage teir friends in a constant stream of invites. I fell for the ‘funniest person on facebook’ which has a total waste of time but my all time least favourite has to be the ‘funwall’. Geez – having a million videos and pictures on my profile that I will never have the time to look at … how fun!
There are tons of annoying apps. I have a friend who added so many and was so facebook crazy that he got banned from facebook.

I have Facebook for one reason – one of my friends in Iraq has it and I want to keep in touch. However, like on MySpace, people find and add me. I do have one person who has like, three games going – something about knights and pirates, one about stealing stuff (Pack Rat, I think it’s called) and something else that I just haven’t bothered with. Seriously, I know that they are supposed to be social sites, but some things cross into the seriously irritating… Thank you for this post! It really got me thinking!!!
I’ve never tried to add this application, but it’s definately one of the dumbest ones out there – “what’s your stripper name?”. WTH?!
Facebook applications just piss me off!!!
I don’t add them, because I only use it to keep in touch with old friends. Thats what its kinda intended for. For the rest, enough has been said, I have nothing more to add!!!
