He’s killed hundreds of the seekers in hopes of “fixing this”. As much as Neville (or even the audience) doesn’t want to admit it, they’re evolving into more sophisticated culture. They create similar traps that Smith does, denoting intelligence. They’ve identified an Alpha Male; they even have K-9 pets. Largely this ending builds more on this idea of acculturation with the development of the seekers having loved ones, and secondly denotes Neville as not only the protagonist, but also the driving evil through the shots at his board of victims as well as his complete apologetic manner.

I forgot where I was going with that, oh well I managed to shout at Scientology so I’m happy…

I would have preferred an ending with him being near death perhaps but saved by the woman (who’s name now escapes me) a couple of bandages should fix up all but the most gut wrenchingly fatal injuries =D

For example instead of throwing that uber grenade AFTER the window caved in, he could have shot the Alpha male through the gap and taken a few others down perhaps, as food is so scares we can theorise the remaining “dark seekers” who have snacked on them fighting with each other for the meal, toss in a couple of grenades which make a Hollywood magic peace meal out of most of the “dark seekers” he gets thrown against the wall and badly injured by the blast. The “dark seekers then wonder off for some reason (hey they did in the normal ending!) She pops her head out finds Will, patches him up and drags his ass to where ever she went. They save him (or perhaps couldn’t) he gives a rousing speech either way roll credits and we’re done kiddies.

A much better ending I hope you’ll agree and totally butterfly free. Damn Scientology!

It seems all too appropriate that they should be more artistic in their expression, vampires being representative of a romanticist sexuality, whereas Zombies seem more linked to the human subconscious desires, food/brains, sex/flesh and shelter/shopping malls.

However, yes the butterfly motif is overwrought, both endings using it, neither of which satisfyingly.
Makes me think the Vincent Price ‘Last man on earth’ is a better work than I did previously.

I find its like a sort of Evil dead mixed with Day Of The Triffids (Book not movie).

I think most people would have liked it more with this ending.
