One thing I cannot stand is Arabs changing their names to western names so people can “easily” pronounce it. Is it ease or you don’t want people to know your real name?
So if your name is Mohammad, aren’t you ashamed to change your name to Mike? Don’t you have any respect to what your name represents? Fine. Use it as a nickname, but why the hell you legally change your name to that?
Your name is Osama, Samer, Samir, why you go by the name Sam? Even girls go by that name too if their name is Samah, or Sameeha or Samira.
Your name is Hussein, why you change it to Jason?
Anything else you encountered?
I get stupid emails a lot, but some seriously I have no idea what they mean or what the main point is and why people write in such a manner. Why are they hiding behind nonsense?

Here is a funnier email I got a while back from a guy named Bassem, and people think they can make up anything and think I don’t know anything about computers or the www. This email seems normal in the beginning and the guy kept bragging about his life and Arabs, but one thing struck me, and I will show the evidence in the end.
Dear Mona,
I came through your web site as I was searching for “Rebellious Animals”. To give you an idea, it is a play that was written by the well-known British writer George Orwell. I forgot the title and decided to try to search it by using a phrase that describes the main incident in the play. Anyway, the thirteen points listed on your web site are very funny and somewhat true. Personally, I think that every culture and race has its own distinctive characteristics that any person might like or dislike things about it. So not only does the Arabic culture have some unique rituals that people may find unpleasant, but all cultures do as well.
Concerning the Palestinian-Jordanian issue you talked about; I am a Palestinian college student from Ram-Allah. I am in my third year at UC Berkeley and only been in the US for three years too. I have NEVER been ashamed to tell people where I am from and NO I don’t try to look Italian. I have dark tan skin and my eyes are brown and I also have what might be called an Arabic country accent (Fala7 Accent). My parents don’t brag and don’t lie and they expect me to be very discipline. I came to the US after earning a scholarship and NO I don’t plan to stay here either even though I absolutely LOVE it here especially California. I socialize with everybody and I am not egocentric, ethnocentric. One last thing, the Arabic community in the San Francisco bay area is a very well-established and upper-middle class community and since I haven’t traveled as much as you did I can only speak from my own experiences and say that Arabs are not the best nor are they the worst. Finally, my dear Mona I think you just had some bad luck with the Arabs you interacted with. Not every one is perfect.
Talk to you laeter. Best Wishes!
Bassem

This was my reply, and he never replied again.
You were searching for “girls+who+love+arabic+guys” in google and not Rebellious Animals.
Anyways.. thanks for your input and nice meeting you.
Take care

Do people seriously think I am dumb or something and someone else maintains my blog for me and I am clueless?
I got this from a friend via email.
In Zimbabwe, Africa, you will find the magnificent Victoria Falls at a height of 128m. The location is known as ‘The Devil’s Swimming Pool’. During the months of September and December, people can swim as close as possible to the edge of the falls without falling over! These falls are becoming well known amongst the ‘radical tourist’ industry as more and more people search for the ultimate experience.
Would you dare?

Jealousy is a killer they say. No it’s not. Jealousy is how others will drive away from you. They will no longer like you. They will no longer want to be around you. This is what happens in real life. Do you think it doesn’t happen in the cyber world either?
So let’s talk about blogs and bloggers.
Blogging is a powerful form of media because it is not fabricated to cover the truth. It is real people talking about how they feel and what they think about life and the world. That’s what attracts people to their blog.
Bloggers really don’t care who reads their blogs. They don’t care about the statistics and how much money they make off of it. Real bloggers are the ones that are always ridiculed and talked about. Why? It’s not because their blog is amazing. It’s because so many people they know read it. So many others are reacting to it and the popularity of that blog has increased so much that it hurts them. It makes them cringe with envy and jealousy that their blog is not as powerful.
Honestly, no one cares. Bloggers don’t care about the popularity of other blogs. They just want to learn to be better and stand out like others and speak out. Some people don’t get that. All they do is write on their blogs how other bloggers’ sites are not worth reading. They use the power of their media to ridicule others and make sure their clan of friends agree too. It gives them an edge of pride ridiculing others. Do you think that people are on your side and will keep reading your blog with such antics and childish behavior?
No.
So all I can say is hope to God that you will snap out of it and get over it. Try to be a better person and write about real human issues. Negative criticisms that are unjustified and are purely out of envy will really drive people away. Please, grow up and better your self instead of trying to give invalid advice that makes people wonder what your real intentions are and why you even have a blog and if it is really worth reading.
