What is your definition of being a leader?
I want lots of different view points on this issue, cause I am confused and would like to know what you think.

Leadership is the art of influencing behaviour in the manner desired by the leader.
Leadership is rising to the occasion.
I think the most important thing is the ability to motivate others, bring out the best in them.
Leadership is not a one-day thing. It is a constant commitment to excellence, a habit . . . a daily practice.

:cake:
Someone who is meant to be able to control a group of individuals.
It does not have to be in a good or bad way… Just control.
Thats what i think anyway.
Leadership is embedded in ones personality, cannot be faked for a day or month. It is an ongoing force that pushes one to always rise to an occasion and be a charismatic leader guiding a certain team towards an already determined goal. For example, Like you taking the project manager role, and guiding your team towards a goal that you all agree on(under your guidance).
Leaders accept change, embrace challenge and most importantly: Have VISION.
Doing what you believe is right whether others follow you or not. A drive to push you through anything, no matter how hard. Making the decisions that no one wants to. Holds true to what they say, but humble enough to admit fault. The ability to see things from multiple perspectives. The role of leadership can be either accepted or forced though.
This is my definition of a basic leader.
Leadership != Bossy
My 2 cents :cute:
Hi Mona, I think “leadership” is one person that is more visionary than the others. So to have leadership you must to lead the people for this ideal that you need.
and I like so much your new blog interface! It is very clean and beautiful! Great job!
God I can’t believe I only saw this now! I love your blog’s new look.. the white is much better than the black.. it’s positive and fresh! It’s awesome!
Last semester we had a leadership course, and they kept saying that the definition is ambiguous and will remain this way.. each person has different views on what a leader should do or be like.. but for me I see a leader as someone who’s people oriented. Being task oriented is good, but not when the people you’re leading are not happy.
You guys are awesome!
Thanks for the tips. :whee:
There is a famous quote out there that says something along the lines of – leadership is practicing psychiatry without a license.
Leadership has defined as getting people to work together in concert to achieve some goal they would have otherwise be less readily able to achieve.
In other words, it’s about promoting effective teamwork.
