Don’t show your face, but your legs for sure!

I just found this article, and I swear, this is the most messed up thing I ever heard. Can you imagine getting married and never seeing your wife’s face, yet you have kids with her? How the hell you have sex without seeing the woman’s face? So you imagine how she looks like by seeing your kid’s grow up. Then you say, “oh, I think they look their mom, the lady that I can’t see!”

Never showed her face in 30 years of marriage Saudi wants divorce after husband lifts her veil

DUBAI (AlArabiya.net)

A 50-year-old Saudi woman asked for divorce after her husband lifted her face veil while she was sleeping, local press reported.

For 30 years, the wife said she never showed her face to her husband in conformity with the tradition of her native village near the south western Saudi city of Khamis Mushayt.

“After all these years, he tries to commit such a big mistake,” the wife told Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh, after she left the house in total disbelief.

She said the husband apologized and promised never to do it again.

This is not the first case of husbands who have not seen their wives’ faces in decades.

In the past Al Arabiya has reported the case of Ali al-Qahtani, whose wife had been wearing the face veil for the entire ten years of their marrage. When he tried to take it off, she threatened to leave and only decided to stay after he swore never to try again.

Hassan Al-Atibi threatened to marry another woman if his wife didn’t show him her face. The woman nominated one of her friends who doesn’t observe this tradition as a possible new wife for him, saying this would be better than her showing her face.

And neither the husband or children of Om Rabea al-Gahdaray, 70, have ever seen her face. Al-Gahdaray says it is a family tradition, also followed by mother and sisters, which her husband accepted and never tried to change.

When asked how she could have kids without her husband ever seeing her face, she replied: “Marriage is about love, not faces.”

The practice of always remaining veiled, even in front of your husband, is not an Islamic practice but a very old tradition practiced by a minority of people in Gulf countries.

And this is too much, i have been in Saudia Arabia and i sat with a women at lunch with such a veil and believe it or not she could eat under it , leaving it on her face, without dropping a single drop of soup !!! i respect the veil but not in that way.. wiz all the respect to the religion.

I can understand devotion… but really… this is completely illogical. :-|

We were given a face, embrace it and enjoy it. We were given a brain, so please do not neglect it…

This is one thing I do not understand. How can you love someone you do not know? How would he even know it was not man?

In the UK a terrorist got out the country by dressing as a women in one of these. Security was not aloud to check the persons passport and his (Her) face as it was against that religion…. How can people get away with this?

I think it is disrespectful to go around like this. When I talk to someone I want to know who I am talking too. And why a person would marry a mask is beyond me.

It is very strange indeed! When my hubby and a few other guys were over there they said that men are for recreation and women are for procreation..I guess that goes to show why women aren’t allowed to show thier face..I dunno?

what is hurting me more than this fact is the other fact that you have lived in Saudi Arabia for enough time to know how much ugly exauguration goes into this so called news :(

I find your comment extremely offending Sabeur, how could you say “Saudis = stupid – people when it states clearly that those people are a minority(a Very small minority at that)?
