You don’t need to be unemployed to feel like one.

.......................

So here I am sitting at work. That’s exactly what I do. I sit and I do nothing else but browse the net and listen to music. You know how I managed to survive the first two hours of work this morning? I watched the movie Juno. I like that movie because I like her smart ass mouth and irrational thinking. Anyways, this job has become the most useless waste of my life. I am ashamed at times to tell people I have a job. They ask me, “what do you do?” What am I to answer? I make … ? I program … ? I design … ? Ahh.. I don’t know what I do, and I am not going to figure that out after 6 years.
I rather be home browsing the net. At least I can eat home cooked food and watch TV at the same time. I heard Soap Operas are quite addictive.

! You can sit there and watch a movie and no one notices? That sounds kind of good… DON’T HIT ME! *flinch*
Who’s going to notice? Not like the new boss likes us anyways. He only comes by if he needs something or asks some stupid question.
Juno great movie lol … you should watch Jenny Juno (korean Version … its on youtube).
Your so lucky you got a job (even one u don’t like), I lost my National Insurance Number and it means 1 month wait till i can apply for jobs…. all jobs are going.
As good as sitting around doing nothing sounds, I admit that I would go crazy after a short while. I need to feel productive. :bored:
It’s definitely not as fun as it sounds. I do pretty much the same thing a good portion of my day. I feel kind of guilty, but I don’t like my employer, my boss doesn’t care and as long as everything gets done…we’re good to go. So I work for a little bit to get caught up then browse the internet. Not fun.
Oh quit your whining people consider yourselves lucky you are even receiving a paycheck. I wouldn’t care if I was stuck sitting most of the day browsing the internet at work because there is not enough work for me to do as long as I received a paycheck. Who cares if it is not meaningful work! Most jobs are boring, meaningless and pure drudgery anyway. At least none of you are stuck working at donut shop serving rude, ungrateful customers for a poverty wage while standing on your feet all day with only a lousy 15 minutes to inhale your lunch. I am sorry Mona but I don’t feel sorry for you. I feel sorry for those stuck working in fast food and retail. Now they have it tough! Customer service jobs suck BIG TIME!
lol If I could get a job like that, I’d do it. Right now I do nothing with college courses. So I’m in the same boat only I’m losing money in the process! :p:
@Sapphire – I am sorry you don’t agree with me. That is fine. No one said you should. However, I don’t agree with you because I don’t have to work minimum wage jobs. I have multitude of skills and years of experience. I do not think or fathom why people continue working minimum wage jobs instead of going getting an education or getting some type of training to get them selves out of this situation. I know life is not fair for everyone. Some people don’t even choose work and go on welfare. Why? If it is easy to get minimum wage jobs. Also, according to Ontario employment law, each employee is entitled for minimum 30 min brakes after 3 or 4 hours of work. So I don’t know where you got your 15 unless they work in prison. Actually no. Prison is probably better. Free rooms and free food.
The reason I would never agree with your logic is because I was never in that situation and I don’t understand it or agree with it. Each person has their own life style and life and career choice.
My career choice is simple. I do NOT want to be MAKING middle class income to sit down and DO NOTHING! It is ethically and morally wrong and I feel like shit! Ok? Some of us are different. If you think I am whining about work, then don’t bother to comment about it. My blog is my thoughts and life. Not yours or anyone else. Ok?
It is myth that all people who work at minimum wage jobs only have a high school education. Some of them are University and College graduates who were unable to find good paying jobs in their field of choice and took whatever job they could get to pay the bills. I am well aware of the labour laws but because something is law, doesn’t mean employers will obey it. Our labour laws are a joke and when employers are caught, they are fined a paltry sum of money that does nothing to discourage from continuing to break them. You don’t realize how good you have it in comparison to other people. A lot of people would trade places with you in a heartbeat. By all means, go on complaining about your job that is your right but don’t expect much sympathy from me. I think you have it pretty damn good.
Let me put this straight and for everyone to hear it. My blog is NOT for anyone to sympathize with me. I didn’t ask for any sympathy. My blog is my journal. My diary. That’s it. No one else’s. I just choose to make it public and allow people to comment. As for employers that don’t obey labour laws, then well, it is the employee’s fault for not looking out for what is their own right. As for highly educated people working at min job. I agree. I know a lot, and I sympathize with them. But if they are doing it for years and just “accepting” their situation, then they have major problems.
Believe me. People may think I have it good. Sure. I got a job and it pays well, but I don’t have any pride or honour in it anymore. It is unrewarding and I don’t work just to get a pay cheque. I want a career!
I agree. I was in a job for many months and had nothing to do. I created my own work which could have been anything from sharpening pencils to resorting my files in some order.
It is ok for the first few weeks… but then you feel worthless.
i want to be a web designer! and watch juno at work! i want to have your job! you shouldn’t complain lol
I like complaining.. It gives me something to write about!
haha i complain quite a lot too, i watched juno a million times at my part-time job in electronics retail. just a quick question… what kind of skills/education did you go through to be in this career?
A lot of determination.. lol j/k.. Studied Computer Science.
It does take some determination… CS is dry as hell. :annoyed:
Sounds like a dream day job to me.
Provided the pay is good, sounds to me like you have the perfect job.
If nothing else, you can improve your skills to get one more to your liking rather than “doing nothing”.
