I was bored and checking out other top blogger’s new insights of the world of blog money making. So I was checking out John Chow’s latest article who is also Canadian and a top blogger. So if you are a blogger and you are bored like me and want to know how much your blog is worth, then check out this tool. I find it amusing the number figures that such websites give back to you.

Am I worth that much?

A lot of the questions in the survey were asking about number of incoming traffic, my Google rank which is 4/10 apparently and Alexa traffic rank which resulted in such an exaggerated value!

For sale!

If my website is really worth that much, then hell, I will sell it now! Then I would have to buy some other domain name and start another blog that doesn’t have the words Arab girl in it.

But how do I advertise my site and get so much traffic? That’s for me to know and you to find out! :laugh:

What is rebellion? My first thought, when I read some of the posts on this weblog, was that Mona is in fact not very rebellious at all. A bit perhaps, but it doesn’t require much imagination to picture worse scenes of sedition. There seems to be something Arabic to the site, certainly – and as for its femininity I shall not venture to speak (I cannot deny having a general interest in that particular subject, yet it’s always smart to retain a certain distance). So, the question is: should Mona have simply called her site “Arab Girl”? (Admittedly a less catchy name, but that is not the point, obviously.)

I do suspect that if she would have done that the number of pervert-visitors would be even higher than it already is (as evidenced by the curious terms Google leads people to this site with). Anyway, that is not the topic here; making fun of silly people’s needs (and inability to effectively use a search-engine) is all too easy.

In my opinion, rebellion requires a degree of struggle. Previous guest-posts spoke of “saying no” (the title was all I needed to read (“wanna” is not a word by the way (eat it, English is my second language))) and “changing your life plans”, if it can be put thus. No offense to anyone, of course, but I couldn’t discover anything shockingly rebellious in these posts. (Nothing normally rebellious either, for that matter.) Disobedience to authority does not automatically amount to rebellion, and ‘rebellion’ for the sake of rebellion itself is often simply childish. Finally, it’s not really possible to rebel against your own plans.

Yet, I shall be the first to admit that rebellion comes in various shapes and sizes. It seems that one requirement is something to rebel against – although I would prefer to put it the other way around: what is needed is something to rebel for. A kid going to school in some kind of gothic outfit may think he/she is rebellious, but if the only point is to shock parents and teachers, I would say that said youngster in fact identifies the existing rules and therewith confirms them. In other words: if you’re only against something, but have no substantial alternative to offer, you’re not a rebel. Mere transgression of a rule, after all, only defines its borders. (There can be no virtue without vice.)

What, then, is rebellion? A true rebel does not say “no” because it gives so much satisfaction or because it’s nice to stand out. Rebellion starts with a cause, it can be anything really. Whether or not this cause is accepted by society, the state, or whatever does not matter. The quintessence of rebellion lies in the fact that it is ultimately created by the institutions it seems to be aimed against. Essentially, rebellion consists of the refusal to give up an ideal, no matter how much struggle it takes. Therefore, no one really chooses to be a rebel, and every true rebel is reluctant to be one. It’s a positive force, in favour of one thing; its essence is not that it’s against something else.

That, in my view, is how rebellion should be understood. A ‘rebel without a cause’ is not a rebel.

Of course, it’s not a black-and-white issue, and many different examples could be given. One such example can be found in the song I started off with (to be interpreted metaphorically!), which also gives us a conclusion to ponder; rebellion can only come into the world – in one way or another – through the barrel of a gun. Whether or not this answers my initial question about the name of this site, is for others to decide.

Gender specific polls. Aren’t I sexist?

I ran a poll last week because people kept saying that I discriminate against men and I shouldn’t be saying that most of the people that come to my blog are my fellow gents. So what did I do? I tried to be so democratic and fair just like the US elections!

I remember this famous quote by Mark Twain. He was awesome for one thing: coming up with lots of quotes that come in handy for pointless political blog votes!

Let’s analyze these stats. 3 of the 22 ladies that voted were me and my best friend. I had access to two ip addresses, and obviously she voted too. So that puts us down to really 19 ladies that I don’t know and 53 gents. Anyone see a big gap or is it just me?

In conclusion, the internet is used by men to find women.

My taste of Music

A few weeks ago we were forced to move at work to two small offices. We were given 1/3 of the space that we used to have. Each room is a bit smaller than my bedroom. Anyways, we were supposedly a group of programmers who are meant to work in one room together on various projects. However, the split ended up really bad. Horribly bad. It became more evident as my ex-boss left and we were bestowed with another manager who doesn’t understand what management means.

I haven’t been doing any work. Does my idiotic new manager care? Last time I saw him was sometimes last week. He was asking for something. Well, does he even know or bother to ask about our work? Nop. And I am not going to even tell him. Till this day I refuse to go to his office or even talk to him unless he addresses me and comes upstairs him self. I don’t have time to play suck up. I hate him so much because he took my position. He is supposedly more qualified for a position he never applied for. That’s what happened 2 months ago. Although I didn’t want to talk about it till I left this place, but I decided to do so anyways. It seems I am cursed to stay here till I die! So, he was hired without anyone’s knowledge because he was best friends with the manager of the place. Although I officially applied for the position stating the obvious that I have been here 6 years, and I can do it! However, NO! I work in a high school. Not the administration of a high school, but a group of teenagers and I am not part of the clique! How can a manager be hired with no interview or notification? After what happened and my utter devastation of the injustice of this horrible place that I work in, I decided to give the guy a chance. I watched his every move. Saw how he conducted “management,” and so far, nothing. Nothing that impressed me or made me say, “he is not a bad leader.”

So my head grew bigger and I became hateful of this place. So hateful, that I cannot even stand my co-workers that much either. Although they didn’t do anything, I just refuse to even look at them sometimes or talk to them. It’s not like they care, and the split is so obvious that I feel that I work in a separate group that constitutes me and them. It got to the point where I don’t want to even have lunch with them anymore because I can’t stand listening to their stories or be around them. I just quit caring. I have been at this job for too long and my departure is long over due.

However, what can I do? My sanity has been maintained by seeing my ex-boss every week and having some hope that I can leave this horrible place too. Yet, that hasn’t worked out and most of the jobs that I applied for and interviewed for I was told I was overqualified after. What am I to do? Overqualified? That’s how bad my life has gotten. I cannot even manage to get a simple technology/software job. I am overqualified!

I think I am even over qualified to have a blog. Maybe I should have my own sitcom. My life surely made me crazy and people need to be amused by the comedic drama.
