I know I am not supposed to talk about politics on my site, but Canadian elections are next week, and I need to say something about the matter. Although American elections have completely over shadowed Canadian elections this year; Canadians seriously need to watch out for this game we are seeing.

Stephen Harper decided there was a need for re-election this year right when American elections are taking over the world’s media, and his plan is to make the Canadian government’s majority be Conservative. You know me, I hate any right-winged politics and it makes me cringe in my sleep. I was on the bus the other day, and Conservative election supporters were carrying signs and waving at people at a main intersection in my city, and all I see is a bunch of people on the bus flipping them off. I didn’t know if it was a good thing or some angry people just like me showing their discontent from the elections this year and from the right-winged supporters.

My family always voted Liberal. We never thought of anything else to vote. I am a very left-winged supporter and I believe in the freedom and liberty of the people. I think it is a logical well thought of concept. However, I have been unsatisfied with the way the government has been run and I want something more human. I want a political system that actually cares about the social issues and the people of Canada. So I did some research, read a lot, watched a lot of interviews on YouTube and came to a final conclusion.

This morning in the car, we were talking about politics and who to vote for next week. I said, “I am not voting Liberal this year. I had enough of their empty talks and I am not happy with the way things have been run in this country.” So my dad said, “who will you vote for then?” I said, “I am voting NDP. They are still Liberal. More social. More progressive, and they have a say in the government. They got some power and maybe they will change something.” My dad said, “whatever Mona says, we will vote for. Let us change this year.” My mom then said, “so who do I vote for?” My dad said, “the orange one.” My mom said, “the NAME!” My dad said, “the guy running in our area is Ferguson. Just vote for that guy.” My mom said, “ok! We vote NDP this year.”

That brought a smile on my face. My family is easily manipulated but I gave them enough of an overview and a thought to change. You can tell that my family has a liberal mentality and are ready for change as well. We are Canadian, and we have been living in this country for many years. Moreover, life is changing, and we need the government to change as well.

My vote is NDP this year. Maybe they can make a difference in something this year and we no longer hold either an extremist right or left winged mentality. It’s time for a change.

Blah Blah, Random Thoughts, They said what?

Financially that is. Yesterday, I checked to see if I will get paid anything for the month of October like I am supposed to, and I will! $750 bucks is what I got for the first week of October. That’s it. No more pay cheques, and I am officially unemployed. It might sound bad, and I agree because the thought struck me with a baseball and made me think, “umm, I am poor now, and I have no steady income.”

I got used to having an income. I had a steady income for 6 years, and I decided to quit my job for various reasons, and the main one was my sanity. You can say that I retained my sanity, and I am a bit more normal now. I am still pissed at many issues in the world, but work drove me insane! Now, I keep thinking of where to get money to sustain my self. Well, I don’t have many bills. However, I do have the female itch of going to the mall every now and then. I don’t really like my parents giving me money, although they loved the idea of me quitting my job because it drove me insane, and my mom didn’t like my constant complaints and white hair.

Fortunately, I have a little bit of income. It’s not much, but it is something. This site. This blog of mine is my only source of income. You may think I am money hungry or trying to make money off writing, which I will not deny it, I am. I make money from the ads you click on, and I also make money writing product reviews. I think of it as really low income, but at least I can say that I am not 100% poor. I am not 100% broke. I am just trying to find a better way to make money without having to listen to the man and get a job. Maybe I just don’t want a boss, and want to be my own boss. Is that wrong?

Maybe someday I will end up getting a new job, but for now, I am trying to find my self. Trying to see what I can do with whatever talents I am meant to have. I wish people will understand that having a job is not everything in life. However, trying to be something in this life and challenging your self to work at it from scratch is a lot more rewarding. Maybe some day I will have a million visitors a month, and a steady blog income. I will hopefully get to write as much as I want whenever I want. Also, one of my ambitions is to write a book or be published for the world to read. You may think that having a blog is good publicity, but I want my name to be known. I think I have this major itch that I need to do something recognizable in this life time and live my life knowing that I didn’t waste my talents.

I wish I had all the drive and energy that I can possibly possess to one day make my dreams come true.

Blah Blah, Depressed, Whatever!

As my sister was getting ready to go to school this morning, she saw me in the kitchen and said, “oh my God! Who is mom talking to in an angry voice?”

I walked to the family room and mom was alone and she was so angry and staring at the TV. I said to my sister, “she is talking to the TV. Probably watching a show and pissed at some situation in it.” My sister started laughing and said, “is she ever going to stop doing this? I keep thinking she is talking to me or you or someone.” I said, “I don’t think so. I think everyone does this. People are obsessed with TV’s because there is always something on it that pisses them off and they get the pleasure of screaming and insulting it.”

I never talk to a TV because if something shocks me or pisses me off than I have a face instead. I am already insane and a bit odd, so talking to a TV will not be any better. However, my mom is a bit more expressive and she will start insulating actors in TV shows. It’s real for her and she has to say something that degrades their actions and damn them to the pits of hell. I keep telling her that it is just a TV show. It’s not real! It doesn’t seem to work at all. My mom is not crazy (compared to me), but just a bit odd and addicted to TV life.

What is real anymore?

Blah Blah, Random Thoughts, They said what?

She passed by me as I was walking down the street with her tight white pants, short shirt, and an underwear streak that is as visible as lightning in the night. I never understood such motives of covering your hair with a veil or scarf, and your body being as visible as daylight. But I have seen it, and many of you probably did as well.

In my childhood years in Saudi Arabia, I grew up where the veil was normal. All women wore it because the country’s customs have forced it upon them. In my opinion it is a traditional custom more than being Islamic. However, I was used to it, and it was the norm in the society.

Later years when I moved to Canada, I saw the big norm among Muslim women wearing the veil in this country. I was never influenced by it because my mother doesn’t wear it either. I never found a reason that was justifiable from the people around me. What I understood is that when women wear it, they are supposed to represent the positive aspects of Islam. Such aspects include being spiritually pure and morally good, and being a positive representation of Islam within the society that they live in.

Unfortunately, I can never seem to find the good in everything. I see the opposite of that. My mother always has this discussion with other women since she is a minority within that group for not wearing one. She tries to understand why girls are forced to wear the veil if they dress in the most provocative manner known to man. That does not include the heavy makeup that accompanies such lustful manner of attire.

Why do these girls cover their hair for? What’s the point if they cannot cover their bodies as well? What are they trying to represent exactly? I think from an Islamic perspective, when a girl decides and is convinced on her own to wear the veil, she must abide with the other positive rules that accompany wearing it.

Girls who do wear the veil must also represent the positive morals and ethics that Islam is known for. I have known and heard girls and women who wear the veil whose verbal language is as foul as manure. There are words that come out of their mouths that I never knew there was an equivalent word for it in the Arabic language.

So why do these girls wear the veil? Does it make a negative impact on the way other Muslim women are perceived in our Western society? You tell me.
