Would you want to meet me in person?
I have been browsing the internet world and thinking, “would I ever want to meet any of those bloggers in real life and be friends with them?”
Some may argue that I should meet my regular readers as well. I have been checking out the statistics on my site; surprisingly, a pretty good number of the people that do visit it are in my city of London, ON. It makes me a bit wary riding the bus or going to the mall sometimes, because I keep thinking that ONE of them has been reading my blog. Which is a ridiculous thought, but you NEVER know! Also, they might recognize me from the obscure pictures found here and there on my site, but I am not a walking rebel with a green button on my purse saying “Rebellious Arab Girl” or anything. Also, I am always tempted to wear the ‘Kiss me I am Arab‘ t-shirt that I made and ordered, but I keep avoiding the public recognition and the abiding stares. Moreover, I have not been writing anything dramatic or too personal lately, because I have no life. I have no love life or constant work drama which I think have degraded my personality into this “nice” person.
Let’s face it, I am a very boring person who writes about the most mundane things and I still get an audience. Now, it’s questionable if I ever want to meet you in person for spending 5 minutes of your life every day reading my blog. Also, there are a lot of you who subscribed to my site. ??? Don’t you have anything better to do?
Do you still want to meet me after I insulted your daily reading obsessions?
I wouldn’t!
I think this is the part when you realize I was being overly sarcastic, and just trying to see if you will go spend hours on digg or stumblepon instead.
But seriously, would you ever want to meet another personal site blogger?
Another lame thought, do I read a lot of blogs and subscribe to many? No. I don’t find that many blogs interesting, but I do have my favorites and some I read every now and then for mere enjoyment and new knowledge. I am also a bad social blogger because I don’t comment on other people’s blogs that I read. I don’t really follow any of the conformed blogging rules some derived and have been spreading as a bible to the novice internet world. I just find social networking overrated lately, and people are trying to find any way to make money out of it.
You want to know how to make money online as a blogger? Mention PORN a lot on your site. You won’t believe the % of site visits I get from people searching for a variation of that. I am too embarrassed to show people my site statistics anymore and the top keywords, because I think I screwed up last year when I kept mentioning porn, sluts, sex and arabs on a daily basis.
Man. I just did it again. Fuck.

Sure, I’d like to meet you. In fact, on Dec. 3 you should come out to the next Social Media Meetup at Molly Bloom’s.
seriously mona i would want to meet u . I find u interesting
and somehow very trustworthy even though i dnt know u i feel that
Actually I’ve just made it here by searching for porn, sluts, sex and arabs.
Okay, not really.
Mention nipples whenever you get a chance too…I did it once long ago and still get 20-30 hits a day and people search fro some strange nipples.
You can’t be that boring because I read you pretty much every day…I decided to come out of lurker mode.
I like meeting other bloggers. Or I like the idea of it. I’ve met in real life with a few folks from Twitter, but that was arranged by someone else.
Meeting other bloggers is probably best done at a small group gathering. One-on-one might be a little uncomfortable. But put 4 or 5 together and now you’ve got something.
I’ve been tempted to do something like that in Seattle, but I don’t have the energy to follow through. If someone else set something up, I’d try to go.
As for creepy search results, last year, I posted a review of the Harry Potter movie, and commented on the excellent performance by Evanna Lynch, playing Luna Lovegood. I stuck in a publicity photo from the studio. I had a surprising and disturbing number of people reach by blog by searching for photos of her. It creeped me out a little.
This is my first visit in several months… but yes, I’d definitely say hello in person given the chance. As I would for many other bloggers.
I think your blog is pretty interisting , I read your blog every day !! I don’t think you are boring at all because you say what is in your mind and don’t care what people think , that ‘s pretty awesome .
What we need is a pic of you in the “Kiss me I am Arab” t-shirt
@Derek – I know who runs that meeting or who is involved, and I do not go to bars. I maybe rebellious, but not against my religion. I think there were a few other bloggers who objected to the meet up place.
@Dede – Aah… but you are all the way in another country. Doh! I would love to meet you too!
But about the trustworthy part.. hmm.. I don’t know where you got that idea from.
@People in the Sun – at least you ended up on this site and commented as a result!
@Talen – I mentioned in one post a year or two ago about “man boobs.” Oh I still get HITS!
@Cromely – I wrote the other day about Miley Cyrus, and I think I want to stop using the internet because there are many creepy people out there that should be hanged!
@Mitchel Porter – were you on blog hopping vacation? Or just vacation from me?
@latinchica21 – I tend to speak a little too much what is on my mind. I think I suffer from some mental social disorder or something. :S
Meyrick Kirby – I don’t think I want to publicly ask for a kiss because I am an Arab. People might take it the wrong way.. WAY wrong!
I would love to meet you. You still owe me a kiss
Last time I checked my debt list, I didn’t owe anyone a kiss! So I can just start selling the t-shirt instead!
Spoil my fun why don’t you :-p
Of course I would like to meet you in person – you already know that I think!
You know, I would probably feel a lot more comfortable going to the social media meetup if it weren’t in a bar as well. I never thought of that – I’d also feel more comfortable if I knew there would be another girl besides me there!
I think we should make a lunch social gathering at UWO every now and then. Or even in late afternoon. You would be surprised how many bloggers from UWO there are. I think it is safe, we get internet access, and we can meet at the wave or spoke.
I’d be interesting in meeting you at some point. I’m always up for meeting new people anyhow, and the wider I can expand the diversity of my own personal universe, the better.
And you don’t *seem* crazy, dangerous, or any of the other “internet person” stereotypes. In fact, you seem pretty cool. And anyone who write about porn keywords is A-OK with me, given my appreciation of arab sluts having sex in porn movies on a daily basis.
Oh fuck. I mentioned it for you.

That’s a good idea…I don’t have a laptop but it would be fun to hang out and talk with other bloggers at Western.
I would if I ever had the chance, but the closest I come to Canada is Detroit.
It’s a lil far off.
“Let’s face it, I am a very boring person …”
I don’t agree with you, I think you are an excellent person or nice baby.
“nice baby”?
What’s that supposed to mean? :S
lol i dunno mona e7sasy says so..
@Mona: A bit of both.

Thanks for the compliment.. but I don’t drink!
Hello Mona,
I think you have a great blog and interesting writing style. Its a result of your “no holds barred”, “I don’t care what you think” methods that you attract so many readers.
Regarding the London meetups. I am one of the organizers and I apologize if you feel left out, or don’t attend because of the location. We would love to branch out and be more inclusive. We have often talked about doing more monthly events in other locations. If you do set something up I would love to attend / help out.
@Erica There are some other girls who attend, plus we aren’t all the scary. A more transparent location might help
Keep up the good work.
wow…maybe i should post blogs like these…theyl come flocking in
