i sooooo dont want to give up shrimp and lobster, but i have been a vegetarian these past few days. so when do you want to go get some sushi? ill of course stick to the cucumber and rice

@Cassie – some Muslims are really strict about their food, so are Jews. However, we are allowed to eat from Jews and Christians. I am not sure about blessed, but Muslims are required to bless their food whenever they eat anything anyways. I just know that Muslims are only allowed to eat from them. Your friends interpretation of things can vary, depending on how religious they are. Ask them if they want to eat at a strictly Jewish restaurant, and see if they will accept or not. Then you can tell if they are just extremely religious to the point of not accepting anything, or actually follow Islam and it’s rules properly.

I don’t quite follow. So are my friends allowed to eat meat but they just don’t know? I wouldn’t think that meat from subway has been blessed by anyone, irregardless of religion.

This is useful for me becuase it’ll mean we can go to nicer restaurants. I’m bored of Iranian.

Food permissible for Muslims is known as halal food."

Hi Mona, I’m not criticising you in any way here so please don’t take this the wrong way.

How comes you (used to) eat meat from Subway or from a can anyway? I thought Muslims were only supposed to eat Halal food. I’ve got a few Muslim friends and they avoid any meat products becuase they say it’s not halal. Just wondering becuase you seem to come across as someone who’s generally quite religious.

Eat what you like, don’t get hung up on the label vegan, vegetarian, partial vegetarion, etc. I am a horrible carnivor, but there are days that the smell of meat turns me off and I can’t eat any for a few days. then I will crave some. Sushi seems to be the perfect solution, but if we all ate it the oceans would be empty. That said, if you ever make it to Cincinnati, Ohio drop me a line. My family and I would love to take you to our favorite Sushi Buffet! Yum. I’m hungry…going there now

I once tried the Turkish equivalent of Indian pastry filled with cottage cheese and spinach and thought that it was delicious – the two are a great combination.

hahahaha eww..I get that feeling too sometimes with chicken.
Well, my mother and sister eat sushi more than I do, but I wouldn’t mind taking you out for lunch; maybe you’ll teach me how to eat raw fish properly. I make the best crab salad..Yummy, Mona I LOVE TABOULI…I can’t even begin to explain.
