I got a working plan for tomorrow. Be my own boss!
This weekend I realized how bored I was. I decided to start something tomorrow. I had enough thinking, and I want to do something productive in my life. What is it exactly? Not sure 100% yet. I am going to work on The Arab Zine again, and I encourage all those that are willing to write for it to come forth and send me articles. Last month have been hectic and I didn’t have the time or willingness to work on it, but now I am.
Also, I am thinking of doing some freelance web work, and starting my own web company again. I think I mastered PHP, HTML, MySQL, CSS over the years, and I have enough skills to get me by. I do not really need money, but I need something to keep me busy. The past 4 months of not being employed and having a boss has been great! I learned a lot in the past 4 months, and now I want to start something and be my own boss. It is not easy finding a job now a days, and believe me, going to interviews is no one’s cup of tea. I will still look for jobs and go on interviews till I find something that I will actually enjoy doing. But I am not going to make it my primary option. Just something in the background and not really a priority in my life.
This site has sustained me financially, and I make enough money off of it to pay my student loans and credit card without using any of my savings. So, I got a plan now for this year that I have been thinking about for a while, and time to execute it. I have my own office and phone, and time to start using that thing called 6.5 years of computer programming and graphic designing experience and do some work!
I am excited for tomorrow, and I feel positive. I think I have a new year’s resolution now. To be productive and start a small business.

Woo, Congratulations on starting your own business!
It’s never easy to work as an independent in the software industry (mainly because of those advanced species of simians we call – “end users”) but I’m sure you’ll do fine
This is pretty exciting to see folks taking their first steps (again?) as independent software developers. It reminds me of when I started working as a .Net consultant and that brings back good fond memories of sleepless nights
So what does the evil empire need to do to encourage you to learn Silverlight? (besides saying it’s uber-cool and all the wicked-awesome devs do it)
BTW, It’s likely that most people don’t like interviewing as much as you don’t like being interviewed. I just listened to a podcast about it that you might want to spend some time listening to: http://herdingcode.com/?p=41

Damn, that badly unicoded sentence was “Atmana Lachi Al Najach AlTam” (And my horrible horrible phonetic english-arabic spelling is why I wrote it in arabic to begin with). Hopefully the part about “full success” carries over from that horrendous spelling.
You make enough off this site to pay your student loans? That is really cool – congratulations! Do you mind me asking what the primary source of income from this website is?
@James
I make money from Google ads, Blog her ads, and selling ad space.
woooahh…

@Mona That’s awesome.
I wish you all the best, I like your new template :-p
Way to go!
I spent a lot of time while at uni dev’ing using PHP, HTML and MySQL; for some reason, I got bored of it!
Hope it goes well for you (Inshallah!).
Good for you. I wish you luck. I must say I work harder for me than for any employer I have had.
@Cookie Monster
It’s not boring when your end product is visually awesome, and functionally awesome!
@everyone else
Thanks!
