The obvious stereotype is "You are Arab and you dont eat meat??!!! *shock horror* La haula wala Quwat!!"

I agree with you - being sensible about what you eat is very important. I have changed my habits since Jan, and I can see obvious improvements over a short period of time!

I never ate sea food in the past, but started randomly one day a couple of years ago; I think having fish as part of your diet is a good idea - and the right fish cooked properly actually tastes quite good.

But regardless - a steady and stable diet with less of the bad stuff is always a good idea! ;)

Hmph. Stubborn women rule.

I've never been a soda drinker- when I was little the carbonation really bothered me and my parents didn't understand why soda was "Spicy" for me. No soda.

I drink two things- water and coffee. Occasionally cranberry juice. That's it. I'm addicted to coffee and will be interred with my favorite Peet's mug.

Fried foods are pretty nasty in +++. Taste great if you do it yourself at home. I have a weakness for good batter dipped onion rings, but still... Okay, sometimes onion rings.

A lot of parents worry about their new veggie/vegan child, that they won't be getting enough "Protein" without thinking about the other crap in meat. Tell your dad you're taking vitamins and substituting tofu. I do eat meat, but steer away from red meat. In Kuwait there is no pork, natch.

I'm most surprised you eat Fish fingers. By all that is merciful those activate my gag reflex. I like tuna- albacore solid in water only.

I'm 33 and I pass for 25. I have the body of my dreams, the skin of a baby and a sharp mind. Eat what you crave and skip the rest. ;-)

Probably also realize your Cholesterol level is much healthier and you will no longer die at 47.

@Imran- Fish's Omegas are really good for you. I believe your referring to a grandma tale of old.

Seems like a healthy diet you have there. My FIL is vegan and my SIL and numerous friends are vegetarian. It definitely takes will power and self control initially. After that, I've been told that the habit... the lifestyle takes over and it's no big deal. I, on the other hand, love meat so much, that I'd rather have the opposite diet--meat only. In fact, this is how my brother eats--meat and bread. I know he has to have some long-term affects with his diet, but he's eaten like that for as long as I can remember. He works out a lot so he takes a lot of supplements. I think all of us (vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters alike) take a lot of vitamins/ supplements to make up for whatever we may not get in our food.

Maybe your dad thinks meat is just so good that he doesn't get how you were really able to give it up.
Oh I also cut out sodas and fried foods and my skin looks better and I have more energy, so I understand you there.

Eating meat isn't that good for health either, that's what I learn from health articles. I never gave it a thought before, but I think I might give it a try as well. But yea, coffee addict here as well, can't give it up!

I have found that in general people are really close-minded regarding diets. People have set dishes they eat and that's it. Whatever others eat is "weird" to the point of being wrong somehow even if a billion other humans eat it.
