Send me a list please

I know many of you are book lovers, and I have exhausted my list of books that I am reading. I got one left to finish up, hopefully in the next couple of days.

So, what I am asking is, what books do you recommend that you liked? Tell me why you liked it, and a summary of the story so I can go to the bookstore soon to buy it. I am such a book freak that I have a membership. By the way, I like suspense or historical type books, or mystery. I like stories that are page turners pretty much.

Any suggestions from the masses?

I recomend Gomorrah (Roberto Savaiano), is an amazing story of how the italian Camorra works. One time you begins you cannot leave it. The end is chilling.

Now I’m reading “Where Now of Palestine?” I’m trying to understand better the history of this tortured country.

try the ‘kite runner’ by khaled hosseini. It is about two boys who had to flee afghanistan because of the taliban and soviet war. i dont think its a true story, but maybe youve heard of it?
Ever try ‘History of the Arab Peoples’? its a hardcore look at the middle eastern growth since the the prophet (saws) and the political and religious growth that spawned from it. that ones by albert hourani.
‘Eat pray love’ is by Elizabeth Gilbert and it is an autobiography about her travels to foreign lands in search of these three things….all to get over a man of course.
a good suspense novel is called ‘battle royale’ by koushun takami. its about a the japanese government going crazy and putting a group of troubled teens on an island where the last one alive wins. lotsa suspense, but also alot of drama in between the gunfights.

Try Lamb by Christopher Moore. It is about Jesus’ life as a teen. A part of history that has rarely been covered. It is told by his best friend Biff. It is hilarious yet incredibly philosophical.

If you love histories and mysteries, I highly recommend Geraldine Brooks’ “People of the Book.” It starts in the present and then draws you epoch by epoch back through time as an historical book restorer tries to uncover the the amazing history of unique religious book–and her discoveries threaten her life.

My friend was reading the book “Flowers in the Attic”, and she told me I needed to read it, so I did. I must say it was disturbing but I couldn’t put the book down.
I also liked ” The hobbit”. I thought it was pretty interesting.

Khaled Hosseni’s second title A Thousand Splendid Suns is much better than A Kite Runner, his first tile. But seriously you said you wanted more of the page-turner type books to read. Most of the above do NOT fit that definition. Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews is a suspense horror title that you may like. Stephen King’s It would be another. Most of Dean Koontz’s titles likewise. If you want some humor in the story, then you could try some Janet Evanovich books particularly her numbered titles One for the Money…etc. (Although the main character is a bounty hunter and it has nothing to do with horror.) James Patterson is very popular as is Robert Parker or the Kellerman husband/wife writers—in the detective/psychological thriller genres. There are many more. Good luck in your reading and let us know which books you particularly liked.

I liked both Khaled Hosseni’s books. Try Eat Love Pray, The Audacity of Hope, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Angels and Demons.
