so someone once came to me and asked me what is the importance of a compliment? Was it to twist and numb or was it to take in like the blue sea on the breeze. i remember biting my tongue when it came to complementing my newest arab friends. they of course seemed so compelling and illustrious, but i bit my tongue, it just felt like the natural thing to do. Marry one lip to the other and words are born. when words are born it can create life or spread dust and disease. so choose well what you say to someone who you care about.

I don't mean to step on your toes with a counter-rant here Mona but I think that yes, guy friends should be allowed to compliment you without fearing for their lives but there are too many guys who either have a standard flirting script which starts with a compliment OR they have a natural sleaziness that gets through whether they meant it at the time or not. Saying a girl's jeans look good when you've just beeen caught out staring at her ass is not a good save. I let my guy friends get away with exactly as much as my girl friends but I'm always wary of the random stranger who opens a conversation with a compliment. Too many Stranger Danger videos at school perhaps?

lol

Three months and counting actually... you are quite a good subject for a study on culturally challenged individuals.

And yeah, I'm surprised it hasn't been banned yet, but then, like you always say, Arabs are lazy. lol. As soon as I have to use an Anon proxy to access your site, I will let you know!

I don't think it is a human thing, it is a cultural society problem mostly. That's what I believe.

Hahahaha! I totally agree with you - It seems that one cannot be polite in today's day and age, and as soon as you go compliment someone, it gets the tongues wagging.

Unfortunately, it is not an arab thing - more like a human thing.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...finally, an Arab chick with a little sense...

It is so difficult to talk to Arab women out here.. before I even open my mouth, I am seen as the Devil.. as a lustful creature who can potentially rape and pillage and murder her children.. I mean... COME ON! I only wanted to say hi!

Oh well.
