Wow, why no one warned me?

Google Buzz

I went to a couple of Arabic blogs today, and people have been spreading these videos online. I saw one, and said, “what the hell?” Then I saw the other, and said, “that’s it. You just ruined my respect towards modern Arabic music.”

Can we seriously say that I am watching provocative videos and no musical talent at all? Is this what the music industry in the Arab world is turning to? Ewww!

Two thumbs down and utter disappointment from my people.

    Modern Pop Arabic Music that gets on the airwaves are HORRIBLE… but believe it or not there are a lot of fusion bands that mix Arab flavor and folk music with styles of western music. The result is something a cultured Arab would be very proud of.

    The problem is however, this music is almost impossible to find. I only heard of this music from a mix CD someone once played, and I have been desperately trying to find the same music online, with practically NO luck at all..

    If I ever do find any, I will direct you to them. You would love it.

    Even Lisa saw the videos and she was disgusted from the second one and said, “why are they trying to ruin our image as Arabs!!”

    That’s exactly how it is!

    maybe am the only arab here who think it’s not shameful or what?, is it a trend now criticizing all the time modern arab music i just got sick of it ,fine stick to ur golden arab music era i don’t give a damn
    you’re critisizing all the time and never looking for an alternative there are so many new arabic artists and bands out there that nobody give a damn about them and it’s like our main problem ends up to be haifa’s curves, atleast this arab woman got the guts to stand up and face her society, i don’t think these videos hurt as much as the arab leaders and our strict stupid traditions that most of them talk about the value of woman’s virginity.. being an arab from the middle east i feel fed up from my society, it’s like living with paranoid dinosaurs, which their main concern is about women, gossip, sex and food !!

    @3alya

    This has nothing to do with Haifa’s curves. We aren’t trying to repress ourselves. What we are complaining about is the complete loss of morality (Not to mention the fact that they songwriting and music is frankly, terrible).

    Modesty and self-respect is what we are complaining about here. We are not saying don’t make music. We are saying have some bloody respect for yourselves, for your religion, your family and your community.

    These artists go far too far. They are simply trying to imitate the west. I am disgusted by these images. We should be better. And when I say we, I mean the entire human race not just us Arabs.

    I feel sorrow and pity for the generation of Arabic children today growing up watching these displays of overt, unrestrained sexuality, who will one day become confused young adults with twisted views on sex and life in general.

    Morality forces us to think and understand. Without it, we are brain dead, media controlled zombies.
