They are always busting a move
Sometimes my family is funny. Just sometimes.
One thing that my family prides on is pure sarcasm. Every member of my family just thinks they are Har Har funny. Even when my sister was in Lebanon last summer, she said that everyone there always says the same reply to some smart ass question you ask them.
This is an example of me knowing that my mom is busy doing something infront of my face, but I have to just be a smart ass and ask.
Me: “Mom! What are you doing?”
Mom in a high pitched silly voice: “I am dancing!”
Me: “Why aren’t you singing too?”
Mom: “I am dancing and singing!”
Me: “You got some talent there. Now that’s what I am talking about!!”
Mom: “Seriously, what do you think I am doing? I am busy! Stop asking obviously stupid questions.”
Me: “I know. hehehe.”
It seems when you want to annoy someone and you know that they are busy doing something, you ask them, “what you are doing?” And you will get the most common answer, “I am dancing!”
Is this a trend back home? Is everyone telling everyone else they are busy dancing? Hahaha! Or maybe just my family. Since I am raised here, I just tell people I am doing nothing, instead of saying I am busy, or pretending to dance and sing. Life here has made people like me stiff and boring with their replies.

Mona, how can you not dance to the musiqa al arabiya? That’s why even when we are busy doing some else, it’s gotta be belly-dancing lol
Haha My grandma used to say that but only when she was irritated.
Yep, here also, but I didn’t here that since I moved out 7 years ago, but I bet my bro and sis get that alot!
My mum used to say “3am bal3ab football bil bostan” and then look at me and say.. “duuuuuuh”
Parents are funny.
Hehehehehehhe..
Here is a question for you guys. Where you originally from? Just so I know that these saying are common in certain nations.
Jordanian living in Jordan, would prefer living in Finland or Sweden though
Damascus
Jordanian living in Canada.
yah doing the dishes and taking out the trash are a bit of a dance really. i like to ask folks what aren’t they doing?
My great-grandparents came here early 1900 so 3 generations were born here. We have never said dancing. We just usually say “What does it look like I’m doing?”. Not too funny. Maybe I will say dancing or something next time just to se the look on their faces…lol!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that my family originally came from Poland.
hehe yup we do say dancing a lot when asked that stupid question :p, sounds funnier in arabic though, sho bitsawi? 3am bar2os lol.
