She would say, “Why are you darker now?”

By: Mona
.......................

So if anyone asks me right now what do I miss the most from London, Ontario, I would say, “Only mommy and daddy, and no one or anything else!”

[source]

Mom and dad call like 2 or 3 times a day, because they are bored and miss our noise. Here, my brother keeps screaming at us for arguing so much. He keeps saying, “Why did I ask you two to come here? And for a month!!”

However, I am having a kick ass time, and I am so enjoying the time being here. I sleep on the couch, and I wake up and go to sleep looking at the mountains. We just drive for two minutes, and we see the blue beautiful lake. Nature here is beautiful, the air is cleaner, and the people are crazier and friendlier.

When my mom calls, first thing she asks, “Did you miss me Mona?” I have to tell the truth and say yes, or I will be doomed for eternity. Also, the nagging sister that gets excited and acts like a 5 year old seeing candy when the phone rings would start word vomiting everything that she hears or sees. My sister is so attached to mom, that she is not her self here. She doesn’t have anyone to go complain to and whisper in her ear that Mona is bad, and said stupid things.

I say stupid things all the time because I don’t care what I say. Who will judge me? A little brat?

Anyways, I miss my mommy after 7 days of not seeing her, but I don’t miss her nagging and telling me stupid stories about other Arabs. She tries on the phone to tell me stories, but I cut her off and say, “Ah, you want to talk to the little brat?”

The only thing I am not looking forward to is mom nagging me that I am tanner now. The sun here is really making me way darker. It maybe a good thing, but my skin is also peeling off from the dryness. I have to force my self to get used to it and start using creams. I almost brought everything in my room with me, but no creams. Can we say that I am a bit, ah, forgetful? :P

Why are you seeing it as a bad thing? Buying new face lotions and potions is a good thing, you have a perfect excuse now!

It probably won’t be long before you start to miss hearing those stories from your mother… until you get back home and start hearing them again

    Hi love,
hmm if you look into the mirror and block off the prejudice and other people’s opinions – do you like the look of yourself being darker?
I like it a lot with myself even though my Mom says I “look like a gypsy” :)

So I’d be interested what you think of yourself tanned :)

Oh and try applying olive oil to your skin! you’ll most likely find it in the kitchen, and it is sooo good for skin and hair. you can apply it overnight (put a towel on your pillow :) ) and rinse it off in the morning. Hair and skin especially of darker people get fantastically beautiful this way :)

I don’t know if I want to apply olive oil on my skin. That will make me 10 times darker than I am now with the crazy hot sun here. I do love it on the hair though! :P

    for moisture I meant!!!
it goes in quickly if the skin needs it. whatever is not needed you can rinse off after a couple of minutes.
I sometimes apply before I phone somone so I spend some time walking around in the bathroom or so (do NOT forget and sit down somewhere :) ), and then rinse off.
it is really good for the skin! even more so if you heat it moderately before applying it to skin or hair (but with caution..)

how do you use it with your hair? overnight or during the day?

Ahh, I know some people that put those tanning oils to the beach, but I guess they got UV protection. As for the hair, I sporadically do it from time to time during the day though. It sometimes help my dry hair. :P

btw I know quite a few people used to apply olive skin to tan better in the 70s, 80s… my Mom tells me of youth friends.

I am unaware of how many people do so today, but it is REALLY dangerous. many of Mom’s youth acquaintances developed skin cancer, particularly those who tanned excessively.
The oil attracts even more UV radiation to your skin.. DANGEROUS!

I just mean to clarify I advise this to nobody!!

Ya I thought of putting some during the day, too.. bizarrely I heard Mediterranean women who work outside apply it for PROTECTION. Now I am unaware of how the oil that draws sun to your skin and burns it can PROTECT your hair from it?!
But many Mediterranean women apparently apply it in the morning in the hair, and rinse it in the evening..

do you like the look? does it look greasy?
    thanks :) ))

It is very greasy. I only do it at home on my hair where no one can see. It is not a look to go out with.
