I know what you are talking about.

Try to ignore them. I think they actually have doubts on the goodness of the state of mind of Arabs and Arab culture themselves, yet suppress these thoughts. And the more fervently attack people who dare voice such things.

Just keep in mind having been given a brain and critical mind is a huge gift. Not using it would be a horrible waste.

Besides: They re just jealous ;)

*looks around suspicously* Im not sure what to do now.

Perhaps a bit off-topic, but here you can see if the world is going forward or backward. The problems you mention with the world seem to be improving.

The world is constantly changing and some people don't want to change anything. They see some of their old ways vanishing with a new generation and that scares them. So they feel like the newer generations are betraying them and they may feel that they are losing their place in the world. Some of the old traditions and values are still good, but as the times change people need to adapt new ideas and beliefs. They have to learn to change with the times even if they don't like it.

I think betrayal of one's own consiousness is worse than the betrayal of family, tribe or nation. I know not everyone would agree, but that is how I see it.

i think the betrayal is dependent upon the opinions or facts that the families use to support their views. for example my family thought i was weird for converting, but they didn't take it as a betrayal, just as a sign that times are changing for their son.
the Socratic method is constant questioning to get to the root and find an answer. I have taught ESL in the past and the right questions have always brought upon understanding for the student, and at times understanding for me.
i think the stigma of fear that surrounds questioning is doubt about who you are and such. If you have no questions concerning all of the things you mentioned, Mona, then it 'means' you are comfortable being who you are. But these people who have questions are seen as uncomfortable, and even stupid. A little doubt is healthy i think because it pushes oneself towards finding the answer that will remove the doubt.

There are only two things infinite; the universe and human stupidity, and im not sure about the universe

"I think sometimes it is wrong to have a brain and think about something that is beyond what is known to us."

You feel guilty speculating about unknown things? And what kind of weird emails? You already have obsessed fans?
