the Iranians tend to be quite similar here too tbh but there are not that many of them and most of the ones in London tend to live in Kensington. It’s a very rich area with not many problems tbh.

We used to have big Indian and Pakistani problems here but they have fizzled out – especially since the BNP has become so strong. Now its more non-racists vs racists reguardless of colour.

No trick-or-treaters here yet! And I even turned on the porch light! This is the first year in forever that I haven’t been dodging the little buggers, and now they don’t show up!

I’ve heard (not experienced) that in USA things are not as flexible in this way.

It probably depends what part of the US you are talking about! We have several cities that I’d say are as diverse as London, and they are all a completely different mix! Here in LA I think the largest groups are Latino, white, black, east asian (mostly chinese) in that order. That’s just a guess by the way! I think we have about a million Muslims in Los Angeles, but over half of them are Iranian and Iranians seem very secular. We have had a lot of racial problems in LA over the years… like the LA riots in 1992, and the Watts riots before that (and before I was born!) but that hasn’t involved Muslims. I’d say the biggest tensions now in LA are between Latinos and blacks. But in general I think things are improving from an all time low about 15 years ago. That’s the only reason I still live here, so I have to belive things are getting better right?
