Boo!

Happy Halloween!! I was told today that my carved pumpkin at our front door was the best in the neighborhood! One guy who came at the door with his kids even video taped it! I took pictures too to share with the world. I haven’t carved a pumpkin for a few years now, and today my creative carving techniques came into play!

Dad went everywhere to find medium sized pumpkins because he wanted my sister and I to carve some this year.

Cool eh? What do you guys think?

Also, for those that know Arabic, this is my dad’s new phrase to try to scare my sister and I: “Trick or treat, abooky 3afreet!” Hahaha!! :D

P.S. For those of you over the years that keep telling me that Halloween is haram, then save your self the preaching. I like to give candy to kids. If I can do it every day, I will! I love seeing 3 or 4 year old dressed up and asking for candy! :D It is the cutest thing ever!

I know! Since we participate in Halloween by the most innocent manner possible, doesn’t mean we are committing any sin. It’s not like we are worshiping anything or even care to!

I’ll miss the little kids trick or treating this year, since I am living on the edge of the jungle in the Philippines and not in Illinois and do not get that many visitors here. Good for you for celebrating the holiday, kids love it.

Scary pumpkin, good carving Mona. Why do we have to reduce everything to Halal and Haram, why not just some community fun.

What’s ironic is that the people that preach it as haram are the same ones(or their wives) who own liquor stores….
    I shouldn’t even go there :)
    Happy Halloween!!! ;-)

The reason that it’s haram is that it’s based on pagan religious traditions, but if you stay away from those than you’ve got nothing to worry about.

that’s the scariest pumpkin i’ve ever seen!

I have a geek Canadian boss asking me to help him getting some techo stuff for Halloween. It was stupid, the custom, I prefer old fashion wardrobe.
And i like how some arabs say ‘boo3 boo3′ for ghost. hahaha.

LOL in all my natural born life I have never been trick or treating, my younger sisters have and they make it seem awsome. Really what better holiday other then the Islamic ones, and ones that give you time off from school/work. Is better than a holiday that gives you free candy! I love the halloween cartoons, episodes of the simpsons, and the scary movies which just about make my day and the spirit of it.

I think the only reason why its haram is because Trick or treating is not a habit of a muslim, but a habit of a kafir, and like the muslims we are, we should never follow what kafirs do, or we will end up in hellfire. LOL, double meaning to that :P

This makes no sense. Habit of a kafir? Really? Find me a quranic verse or hadith that says that dressing up little kids and them saying the phrase “trick or treat” to get candy is haram. Also, it is a way to meet your neighbours since we seem to see the neigbours and their kids once a year and meet them cause of this occasion. Aren’t we Muslims supposed to honour and respect up to the 7th neigbour? Well, I guess Halloween is a time to do that as silly as it may sound.
