Let’s do something different

By: Mona

Google Buzz

I was sitting on the chair today staring at the monitor for over 10 minutes, and wondering how routine my life has become. I feel like I am a robot of my own making. I really wanted to do something different, but I needed encouragement. I wanted not only me, but everyone else to have that feeling. The feeling of doing something that you are not used to doing at all, or haven’t done in a long time.

Sometimes life just runs by so fast, that we start forgetting our selves. We forget what we want, what we are able to do, and what we are supposed to do.

Therefore, this week, try to do something different. Pick up the phone and call an old friend. Clean behind your desk. Run around the block. Give money to a charity. Ask your friends if you would like to go out for dinner and a movie. Go out of your way and visit a friend or relative at their home without their knowledge just to say hi. Tell someone how you really feel about them instead of wondering why the sudden distance. Clean out your garage. Clean out your closet. Etc.

After you have done that odd thing you are not used to doing or never done before this week, ask your self this, “Shouldn’t I do this more often? Shouldn’t I try to do something different all the time and get out of this routine?

Tell me or tell others what you have done this week. Try to encourage them as well. You can comment about it here on my site, or blog about it on your own site.

Let’s all participate in this activity, and see what are the outcomes by next Sunday. I hope we can all learn from this, and try new things all the time.

Vive la difference, we all need something different every now and then to spice up our lives. I totally agree, I for one will not stay at home this weekend but will go out and explore some of the wonders of Dubai, will see.

For me, that’d be good advice not just this week but every week! For you, though? Seriously, Mona, you haven’t had enough going on the last couple months!? :)

And now for something completely different

Well, what did you expect me to do, what with a blog title like that? A red rag to a bull really!

In case anyone is interested, my 2 tasks for the week are to re-write a paper, again (how many times have I written this damn thing?), and finish a small programming project. Oh, and do my taxes

I agree with you totally, life is an adventure that is meant to be challenging, rewarding and fun. If we get stuck in a rut or routine we might as well become a goldfish in a bowl.

Hey the great thing bout a goldfish is that they always forget that they are in a bowl. Kind of like some rulers forgetting that they only run something roughly the size of a grain of sand.

    @Meyrick Kirby

I saw the video on your site of the choreographed music and editing. Absolutely brilliant.

I’m thinking about going to the big “Green Movement” protest in LA on the 4th! That’d be the first protest in the US I’ve ever been to, so that would be different!

I walked to the masjid today as opposed to driving, its such a short walk i decided I’ll probably walk there a lot, save for the weather. After salah the hafiz and his brother came to me and asked if i could teach him some english and he could teach me some arabic and Qu’ran. After i was done walking to the entrance to my neighborhood i stopped and talked to the guard. She gave me some solid tips on finding my soul mate.
So i took your advice and God gave me many blessings….This isn’t the first time I’ve taken your advice and had a positive outcome, and I certainly hope not the last.
