Maybe it is heredity

By: Mona
.......................

I was flipping through the images on a Facebook group called, Photos from Precious Palestine, and I stopped on a certain photo that made me read it 3, 4, and 5 times.

They took everything from the Palestinian people, and when my poor people turned around and said, “We had enough! We will defend our selves and fight back,” then they get blamed and are labeled as terrorists.

I read it, and then I thought of my self. I turned to my selfish being and thought, “Is this a curse that is being passed on us Palestinians? Even some Arabs? Even me as a blogger?”

I write my thoughts, my opinions, and share it with everyone on my blog, but I am the one that gets blamed and ridiculed for it. It’s like I am supposed to shut the hell up when everyone is not in agreement with me. I have to shut up, stop writing, and suffer emotional pain because some idiot or two out there did not like what I said.

Where is the freedom of being a human being? The world is rapidly changing, science is explaining so many things, and technology is advancing at incredible rates. We are slowly trying to understand the world around us, we can even see photos now of the universe millions of light years away, but we are still arguing about the same issues and solving it the same way humans did since day one. When we fight, we make sure to hurt the other person in any way we can, either in a physical or mental way. That’s all we are cable of still mastering in utmost perfection.

When we start opening our minds to other possibilities than arguing, (who started it and what method should be used to annihilate the other), then we will advance as human beings to understand the world around us, and really use that God given intelligence to better humanity and just enjoy the journey of life.

Finally, as long as there is one Palestinian living in this world, the name Palestine will live on. Same goes for each of you out there from different nations, religions, and ideologies.

Powerful words which sadden our hearts. Sadly, the Arab nations never reach out to help… its only those kind hearted people in the west. But Palestine lives on nevertheless.

Palestinians are now scattered all over the world. What I find ironic is that we have Arab nations that protest against what is going on in Palestine but what gets me is how Palestinians are treated in these newly adopted homelands at times good and at other times like human pariahs. I wish there was some kind of solution for that part of the world. It’s an ancient land with ancient peoples that contains people of various faiths.

I’ve spent time in Jordan and Palestinians were not generally treated well. The funny thing is Muslims and Arabs are so Gung Ho about Palestine in the U.S. but in the home country a lot of these same peoples don’t care a ton.

Unfortunately every country neglects refuges and people from war torn countries. That is the way the world is. One day Palestinians, along with Kurds,Armenians,Sudanese, and many other groups, will experience a respectful and free life.

People who tell you to shut up for voicing an opinion are people who do not know you as a person and never took the time to find out otherwise. Just from reading your site over the past 1.5 years, I have decided that if someone disagrees with you, and they do it in a civil manner, you and said person could have a very engaging, intelligent conversation. But those types of conversation are rare on the web. On the web anyone can be nasty and cruel to anyone they know, and there’s never any repercussions for it. That alone tears down the integrity of debating online and makes many people avoid it like the plague.

As this is your blog, you’re entitled to do so. If you have a comment section, I guess it follows that you’re willing to listen to what others say about what you think.

BUT it’s a non-sequitur for you to shut up if somebody tells you to. who the hell is that guy? why do you care about his/her opinion?

I guess what I’m saying is just chill, and be strong. The situation can be likened to a rush-hour train where you have to elbow out those people who step, elbow, or push you so that you can get to that train and go home. :)

I love it when I engage with in a very intelligent conversation with someone on here. However, most people resort to personal attacks. It’s like they feel some sort of gratification to do it online to some girl they will never meet in their life!

I loved this post, ”Science is explaining so many things, and technology is advancing at incredible rates.. but we are still arguing about the same issues and solving it the same way humans did since day one” Like music to my ears! Hopefully soon, Palestinians worldwide (especially those with money/power) will group together (similar to Jews) and create a strong (not fragmented!) positive pro-Palestine movement. x

Amina, there aren’t many countries in the world today that are populated by the same people who were there a couple thousand years ago. Wars have been fought over land since prehistoric times. And the people who lost usually ended up slaves of the people who won. The “world order” is actually quite a bit better now than it has been in even the recent past. My opinion, anyway :)

I think perhaps you are a bit confused about what the freedom of being a human being would mean.

“I write my thoughts, my opinions, and share it with everyone on my blog, but I am the one that gets blamed and ridiculed for it. It’s like I am supposed to shut the hell up when everyone is not in agreement with me. I have to shut up, stop writing, and suffer emotional pain because some idiot or two out there did not like what I said.”

There are two types of bloggers out there. Those who never offer deep insight or strong opinions, and those who get criticized and attacked. Take the criticism as a compliment. When you’re catching a lot of flak, it means you are over the target. Check my youtube page. I get some incredible hatemail, death threats, and name calling.

    http://youtube.com/trlrtrash13

Remember, they attack because you stir their emotions. That’s your job, and you must be doing it well. But as you exercise your right to be a human, expect them to do the same and throw their viewpoint out there too.

 I love you. Im an arabian girl living in the U.S. Im 15 and care soo much about my homeland in Palestine. This picture really states that this guy is defending himself in no “terrorist” way. Some people think just because Im arabic, Im “so called” a terrorist. Terrorists are people who dont have a kind of heart who hurt themselves and others. So dont think this picture is just being “terrorist”, this old man is just trying to say that hes willing to defend for who he is. <3 <3

That sign in the picture is the best sign ive ever seen. It explains the audacity of the official Western/Democratic opinion perfectly. And I agree with Steve, people will always hate, and you need to take it as a sign that you’re, if nothing else, reaching people emotionally. And that’s a difficult and brave thing to do. Stay strong.
