I am not convinced

By: Mona
.......................

I have been running a weekly poll on my sidebar for a few days, and so far, the highest percentage of people’s votes are going toward the option “I don’t live a double life”.

I don’t know if I am convinced by such poor results so far. Was it a trick question? So, for those that still haven’t voted, please be honest with yourself and vote truthfully. It is just a poll, no one will know that you voted. I just want to know an overall more convincing percentage with several votes, and maybe others are curious as well to the way people are really living their lives.

What drives you to live a double life?

Perhaps people are scared if they answer truthfully, then they have to admit it to themselves. I know some people have a double life but they don’t realize they are doing it. I voted truthfully tho :D

Sometimes I do think I should have a double life,

I mean how cool it would be to be to have a double life style of someone like 007.

Fight bad guys by day n equally adventurous life at nights lol.

As the saying goes, nothing comes easy.

I guess majority of people which include 30%-40% of survey might have to work super, duper, ultra, bumper, buster hard to have double life. I mean who wouldn’t want to wear one of those tight cloths, still be able to breath and fight shape shifting super villains. Sigh** Yes I agree we have lot of work ahead, very boring kinda people :p

Nop.. what I write on my blog is exactly me in real life. That’s why I get many hate mail form people I know and they get pissed off. Cause they know it IS TRUE!

However, I will admit, in the distant past I was living a very double life, but I snapped out of it when I started realizing that I had no idea who I really was. So, I believe that everyone does at some point. If they choose to continue living such a life, then they got a lot of work ahead of them.

Oh well. I will wait tomorrow and see the final results before I go on to the next poll.

I sort of have a double life, I admitted to that. But I’m not surprised that many people say they don’t have a double life. I’m sure half of them are lying because they are afraid of getting caught on an anonymous poll. But as for the other half, some people just lead boring lives and have nothing to hide.

    I’m surprised by the results.

I think “i don’t have a double life” should be at least 70%

I believe most people are decent.

Living a double life means living with a certain amount of guilt… most people can’t handle a continuous dose of guilt… even a small dose.

Living a “double” life isn’t about being a bad person, sometimes it just about needing personal space.

I agree most people are decent. Most people are also fairly selfish, though. And what happens when self-centered people engage in activity which either embarrasses them or causes them guilty feelings? They hide it. If it goes on long enough… voila! Double life :)

I think the number should be far higher than 30% who live a double life. The stats on adultery alone indicate that about 50% of married people have been unfaithful. I don’t think any sizable percentage of them have “open” marriages where they could tell their spouse about an affair. Then there are the percentages for alcoholism and drug use, both of which are things people hide from their employer (at the least) and often from their families as well. Again – double life! And so on…

But maybe Mona’s blog attracts an unusually high number of people who are settled and comfortable in their own skin, or people who don’t have enough going on in their lives that things get complicated, or maybe the people who live a double life just didn’t answer the poll question! Who knows :)

I used to have more of a double life when I was younger…i.e. changing into different clothes when my parents weren’t around or going to clubs, etc. but as I get older what you see is what you get! No more double life for me because I can barely handle the single one that I live!

Ameena, me too! In fact I was much worse than you! When I was in the Marines I would be a different person whenever I came home on leave or liberty. I used to think my friends and family wouldn’t even recognize the guy I was when I was in marine-mode. But they would have been appalled if I acted like that around them, so I did what I had to do :)
