Do you believe in fate?
Today, I had a conversation with someone I knew from the past about fate. You see, I became bitter over time because of all the people I have met in my life, and how some of the closet people to my heart backstabbed me or just thought of me as last in their list.
I believe that no matter how hard I work, and what I do in my life regarding relationships or friendships, the outcomes are determined by fate. I believe that things happen for a reason, and so far as a person who is trying to think positively here, that reason is unknown. I just want to live life, but so many things in my life have lead me to forcefully forget the past and move on. I am tired of stressing over everything, because no matter how hard I work, the end result is determined by fate.
I don’t want to discuss this any further, but I am opening up the comments for serious debates here. Do you believe in fate?
Blah Blah, Confused, Random Thoughts, They said what?, Whatever!

Nice post Mona! Yeah I believe in fate & actually I can relate to much of what you wrote about in this post!
@Lejla
Hey Lejla.. how are you? So you believe in fate, but why? Is it your inner faith or so many things in life lead you to this conclusion?
I don’t believe in fate. What I believe is that, your life’s outcomes are determined by the actions and decisions that you take and make.
i agree with u mona everything is decided already caz of fate n i belive only God knows this but at the same time i belive u may have 2 fight n work hard 4 what u want think of it this way is it your fate 2 give up on stuff or is it your fate 2 fight n try hard 4 things .Also sometimes i belive u may have 2 show God how much u want something if u want something bad enuf u will never give up. Everything happens 4 a reason n i belive its caz of God n God also knows who really wants it or not 2 (whatever the case may be)salams n good post mona …………….p.s i like this song
Yes things happen for a reason, but life is like sailing the ocean, if we are lucky we have a destination we sail towards. No one will guarantee us a sunny and smooth journey. So we navigate as best as we can, we may get to our destination or we may change our destination or never get there. The point is we should enjoy the journey.
If everything is already predetermined then why are we here? I don’t believe in fate…I believe that our actions determine how becomes of us. But then again, that is just my $.02 and what do I really know??
oh yes that’s why first thing I do in the morning is to read those horoscope prediction for the day
@Shirley
Interesting perspective.
@Ameena
You know… I used to ask my self that question. “If everything is predetermined, then why are we here?” I don’t know why we are here and the purpose of humanity. Were we placed here to just worship God and suffer the consequences of Adam and Eve’s actions? Or are we here to live a rough life and have faith in God every day all the way till the end, so we can live a better eternal life later?
Part of the reason I believe in “fate” is because I believe in Qada’ and Qadar. It strengthens my beliefs due to experience as well. I’m not saying I believe in zodiac predictions of the day and such but when something happens, and after I gave my everything but it turns out to be something else, then I leave it to fate and accept as it is. Allah works in wonders and certain things we cannot understand with our minds. For as long as you’ve given 100% effort, then there’s no regrets.. Just don’t stress yourself thinking of it too much. When you don’t think about it too much, then you’ll realize things will start working your way..
What do you mean by fate, do you mean predetermined? I don’t think so. Because we all want to hope or believe that we will have the chance to create our own life or at least have some say in it more than have to live a life decided without us. Otherwise why are we here? If we are just without control over our own life and being manipulated or following paths or decisions set by someone else or some other force? Also how could it be fair for a fate to make some people so poor or in poverty or starving and living with very much suffering in their lives? But it is the same question people ask about God, as well as fate. It does not make sense for someone or something determining lives and overall destinies to choose things to be like that.
But speaking of small parts of life, some few things but not all, we might like to think we have destinies for these individual aspects. Some things of lucky or happy circumstances that we hope for, or wish that maybe we deserve (maybe we have ideas of karma or justice or self worth, or that we deserve some good pre-decided for us, to make up for the rest). Like what we did on one special day. Or for having been able to meet a special person in a chance moment when you might not have met if you had done any small decisions differently, or love, or holiday or travel experience, or certain studies or careers you began, because it was chance or could have easily not done it and done something else instead. But are these things small romantic destinies and fulfilled dreams? Or are they just luck and chance? Or serendipity (like the film, and many others too)?
We all deserve some good to happen to us. But we have to be able to believe that we have the free will to choose most of our life decisions. But there are many things we can’t control, and some people with suffering lives will never be able to change many of the things which make them suffer, with their own choices or actions.
Shirley and Ameena, you said it simply.
It is what I think too.
Mona, I don’t know why we are here either. I really think there is not a point. It is meaningless.
There comes a time where you gotta be fighting for yourself and you realize whats meant to be will end up and whats not wont. Relationships are worth fighting for, but sometimes you cant be the only 1 fighting, at times people need to fight for you … and if they don’t you have to move on and realize what you gave them was more then they were willing to give you. Always fight until you cant anymore – then be fought for.
- Unknown.
Anywho mona, I believe a little bit of both. Allah knows all our affairs at the end of the day we return to him. But we also choose how we get there. Believe me we werent placed on earth exept for the reason that we worship Allah ["I have not created the jinn and humankind for any other purpose except that they should worship Me."] But I think we forget that, and thats when we question why we are here which ultimatly causes us to question our beliefs and turn to athiesm. or become an agnostic.
And nice poll btw, its a quincidence because i have been going on about how much I hate my culture. And then I see your poll. Will there be a rant comming up about your culture again ?
@dave
Well.. I think there is a point… Anyways, as for our fate.. I still think it is hard to understand what it is supposed to be and why.
@Jasmine
I understand where you are coming from, and I understand that God put us on this earth to worship him, but is that all he said he wanted us to do? We should all stop what we are doing and pray all day then, because what’s the point of life if we were placed on this earth for that purpose only? I think there is more than that, and we have to have greater faith in God for allowing us to figure that out on our own. That’s the most beautiful gift he gave all of us, a brain. And when we start thinking and questioning things, it does not mean we are becoming Atheists or Agnostic. On the contrary, we are using our God given gift to understand why we are here and how we can live life to suit our needs and keep God content with our actions and lifestyles.
@Jasmine
A rant? Not really.. but more of an analysis. However, if some Arab pisses me off, which one person did today already through Facebook, then I will turn it into a rant!
”That’s the most beautiful gift he gave all of us, a brain” Music to my ears ! x
@Mais
I am slowly composing a symphony of truth!
Fate is part of the present outcome, the future is determined by what is written for us, what is written for us is determined by our actions, and out actions determine our destiny
Jasmine I like what you said in your first paragraph.
I don’t think that a God would or should create people only to worship them though. That would seem a selfish reason.
Incandescent Chimera i can’t seem to concentrate on the meaning of what you wrote. But you seem to have written it in a beautiful way.
@Jasmine
i also like yr first paragraph
@Ameena
i used 2 think this sometimes 2 ….but what u have 2 realize is that it is God n that God knows all n we all should be thank full that we r here n that God gives us this chance n we will never really know or understand it caz its God n thats that
2 belive in fate is 2 belive in God
If the universe is predetermined, that would imply that the actions of god are pre-programmed and executed in a pre determined order. That would make god somekind of computer running the programme called ‘the universe’.
if fate is equavalent to God’s plan, then I do believe in fate. I believe that everything has a purpose and there is a reason why we are here, why we are doing what we are doing, etc
