You know, I have to tell you, I really enjoy this blog and the insight from everyone who participates. I find it to be refreshing and very informative. I wish there were more blogs like it. Anyway, I felt it was about time I posted, I’ve spent most of my time here just lurking and reading, but today for some reason I just felt compelled to say this.

Congratulations on your new car. Now all that hard work has a name.

Nice ride! It has a really appropriate name, too haha! Congrats on the purchase and solving the depression! I hope I could buy a matrix every time I get depressed haha!

You know, one day I started watching The Matrix, the first one, and I couldn’t finish it. I was like this is crap! Too much acting and the story sucked.

Mona, you were about 10 years old when The Matrix came out, right? :p

I was a professional programmer when it came out and it really had an impact. The computer industry was changing a lot in the mid 1990s. Changing from what it was (a niche industry as far as home computers, plus mainframes at businesses) when I started, to the computer industry you know and love today. That movie really pushed a lot limits for what people thought computers were capable of (or might be capable of) back then. The hardware and software was so crude back then, but people really put their imaginations to work when it comes to what was possible. And that’s a good thing. The computer industry seems so stale and mundane to me, these days.

Seriously, though, how can a programmer not like THE iconic programmer movie? lol

Well, I guess it’s like when I tried to watch the original “Tron” for the first time 16 years after it came out. Seemed too cliche and full of hidden (but not so well!) meanings.

I named her My Eight Pearl. Why? 1) I saved all this money to pay for this car in full for the past 8 years. 8 years!!

My ex wife always paid cash for cars too. I would do that but I’m terrible about saving money. I’m terrible about paying bills on time too, so I lose either way

Congratulations Mona, you have finally seen the fruits of your labour in the Eight Pearl. Btw, when you were saving up to get the car did you have your eyes on this particular model or was it a spontaneous purchase?
