I am busy watching the world cup. Sue me for being a typical Arab!
Those Latino players are HOT!
Who is your favorite team?
I am going for Brazil or Argentina.. but I am hoping Brazil wins this year. I have the jersey, and I want to get a flag for my car soon.
Moreover, at work, I keep streaming the games live from the internet all day long while I am coding. So my boss comes up behind me and kicks my chair and says, “You are one of those!!” I said, “Only in world cup. I know it is a commoner’s game and no thinking involved!” He was not impressed.
The ladies had a different opinion. One said, “Men kicking their balls around… now that’s a sight!” *hint hint* Bad inside joke! lol

You know what’s funny guys. Four year ago, during the world cup in Germany, I said to my self, “I am going to be married by 2010 and go to world cup Africa too!”
Guess planning stuff is never a good idea. Life happens when you are making other plans eh?
Oh well!
Where could I watch the world cup online? & YES, I loveee watching it!!! <3

The Brazilian women are pretty hot as well
I’m so glad I’m American and therefore don’t get bitten by this bug
Glad you’re enjoying it, though, Mona
By the way, what does this mean? :
“Only in world cup. I know it is a commoner’s game and no thinking involved!”
I dont watch football but I hope that an African country wins, Ghana, or SA. And I am glad you ladies are enjoying the sights and sounds, LOL.
@Meyrick Kirby
I am watching the Argentina game now, and those fans are crazy too!
Sure!!
@Craig
At 2:00 pm!! We are closing down any communication in our house to watch that game!
@Craig
That means there is no techniques or major strategy in the game. Just kick the ball and score! Not like golf or curling.. all those stupid games! lol
What I meant by commoner that the entire world watches soccer, and the entire world is a commoner compared to the 10% of crazy rich snobs out there who think they own the world.
@Mais
I would love to see an African team make it to the finals.. but I am sure they will make it to the semi finals..
I voted yes in the poll
. And immediately you tweeted Eng 1 – USA 0, then Steven Gerrard scored
, I was so surprised!
@Mona

Oh, you’ve got it bad! I bet American guys would love you if you were into sports American go crazy about. In my experience most American women couldn’t care less about sports and instead enjoy the pass-time of ridiculing the way their husbands, brothers and fathers sit in front of the TV watching “the game” all the time

Well, i guess I like the commoner sports too then! Football (American!!) was far and away my favorite sport in high school and junior high! It was damn near my life lol. I just liked to play it, though. I don’t follow the game as a spectator.
FORZA ITALIA! I have to see my home*country* take the cup for the 5th time Insha’Allah … and ofcourse because of the proudness I feel knowing there’s a muslim country on the world cup stage alhamdulilah. I ask allah to make them go far.
@Shirley Osei-Mensah
But the game sucked in the end. It was so boring to watch!
Wassup Mona?
Here are Todays scores:
South Korea beat Greece 2-0 in the day’s first World Cup soccer match. Argentina edged Nigeria 1-0 but the historic match between U.S. and England ended in a draw 1-1.
I hope Brazil Takes IT :up:
Hey! Since when was curling a snobs game? All you need are stones and brushes. Also, it’s popular in Canada, so I wouldn’t say that too loudly if I were you. Of course, I’m biased. The olympic curling stones are made from volcanic rock from my part of the world.
On the other hand American footboot is dreadful. I mean, it’s rugby with Kevlar body armour!
Mona u said: …That means there are no “techniques or major strategy†in the game. Just kick the ball and score! Not like golf or curling..
In football u just kick the ball and score, that’s it. “No technique or strategy “needed
In hockey u hit the ball with stick and send to goal, that’s it,…….
In tennis u just hit the ball inside the court, that’s it…………
In computer, u just click the mouse and point the curser to menu, submenu’s, that’s it…
Not like golf or curling…..

No idea what Rugby is, but American football is brutal, which is great if you like brutal which I guess I do! Totally different from soccer, which I played enough to at least know what it’s like! And the padding/helmets are totally necessary. Otherwise there’d be fatalities every game, which would kinda spoil it. Last time I played tackle football without pads was when I was about 13 and I still have a couple scars from it. For big adult guys who know what they are doing? Not an option.
As a Latina I can say yes…the men are hot lol….I used to have a Brazilian jersey with Renaldo’s name on it…long time ago. It’s put away in my storage.
@Craig
“tackle football without pads” That’s pretty much what rugby is. American football traces it’s origins to rugby. The main difference between the US and the rest of the world, is the latter does not feel the need to strap on 30lbs of protective gear to play. You should watch Invictus, then you’ll know what a proper spot looks like.

Well, I wouldn’t know but I just watched this:
Rugby 101
And it doesn’t look at all like US football, to me. Lots of pushing, not much hitting. I take it you’ve never played American style tackle football? Let me know next time you’re in the US and I’ll demonstrate a typical lineman’s block for you. You can let me know how unimportant the helmets are after you’ve gotten an elbow across the jaw a couple of times, or a knee to the temple
And if you don’t feel like continuing this discussion, that’s fine with me too. Your ridicule of American style football was obviously aimed at me since I was the only one who mentioned it. That’s why I replied. But I have no interest in arguing the pros and cons of one sport vs another. I suppose I could just stop taking your passive-aggressive “bait”, but that wouldn’t be any fun would it?
Technically, punching someone in the face is an illegal move, although I imagine it is in US football as well. However, teams are well known to use it as an intimidation tactic, especially the Springboks. Same can be said for stamping on someones face, but…

In US football, linemen (which is most the players on the team) engage in a head on collision every play, with the intention of either knocking their opposing number out of the way or knocking their opposing number down. One (of many) valid tactics for doing that is called a “forearm shock” which ideally is delivered to the shoulder. However, a “near miss” results in an elbow to the face. Near misses are common, whether intentional or not.
Same can be said for stamping on someones face, but…
The “knee to the temple” part? Dude, what do you think happens if you get beat on the line and the other guy blows through you? You just got knocked back on your heels (or knocked down), and he’s traveling full speed ahead and you’re both occupying the same place at the same time. You’re going to get run over and trampled. It’s how the game is played.
I think it’s impossible for somebody who has never actually played the game to understand how violent it is, just from watching it on TV.

I’m failing to understand your rebuttal. The games are not at all the same, and I’ve done as much to prove to you that there’s a reason for all the protective gear in American football as I’m willing to. If you prefer to insist that it’s just rugby for sissies, that’s entirely up to you
PS-I noticed the girls on the high school field hockey tam don’t wear any protective gear. Should we have an argument about whether or not that constitutes proof that their tougher than professional ice hockey players with all their wimpy helmets and pads?
