I was not the direct cause of it
Don’t start blaming now people. I did nothing but train this guy and help him out.
Unfortunately, the boss fired him today. IT WAS NOT MY FAULT! God did it! The Pakistani guy had serious issues with performing simple tasks. For example, taking screen shots and putting them in a pre-written manual. Is that such a hard task? Seriously? Come on. AND IT TOOK HIM 3 WEEKS TO DO! You are a technical person, but you cannot perform the simple task of doing that and doing it properly?
I am not being overly critical here, but I am being extremely critical! Sometimes I wonder how people get jobs. People like him lie their way to get a job, and memorize a few verses from the interview bible. However, you can only lie for so long.
I remember when I had my interview for this job almost a year ago. I am far too shy and nervous. When I am nervous, I cannot for the life of me make up stories. I can only say what I know and if I don’t know it, I say I DO NOT.
I don’t understand how good honest people are having hard time finding a job by saying, well, I do not know this, but I AM GOOD AT something else. Employers don’t like that, but they really hate liars.
So be warned, not only is lying a sin, but also thinking you can never get caught is just an illusion.
I really felt bad for this guy today. I kept wishing that the bosses should have gotten rid of him after work last Friday without any of us being there. Just me seeing someone forced to leave and pack up is beyond painful.
Oh well, wish him and everyone the best.
Blah Blah, Programming, Religion, They said what?, Whatever!

It is best to let people go before the weekend because it reduces drama and gossip in the workplace….
That being said, I chose to resign mid-week because in this part of the world, you can’t rely on your boss being around on the last day of the week to do serious work or talk about your resignation… so you have to do important stuff early to mid-week to make sure it gets done.
You know what feels worse than having the guy you trained let go? I had direct input into letting a guy go once. He couldn’t keep up, never understood what we wanted, and got too little done too late… and it looked very amateurish when it was done … mind you he was a contractor getting paid double my salary and my amateur style proof of concept for the project looked much cleaner and worked better than his ‘professional, been doing this for 8 years’ version of the same project.
That was tough… as I worked in a semi-gov. sector and people are very rarely let go here… once he left, we found a replacement engineer in-house from our IT department. This guy was a genious… he only had 1 day of free time every couple of works (he was spending 99% of his time on SAP) and in those few afternoons he would sneak in for our department would get AMAZING work both quality and quantity done …
For that period between letting the contractor go, and bringing this new guy in… I felt like shit… because I felt like I had single handedly not only fired one guy but also halted the project…. 6 months later though, the contractor was back with our company ,in a different department, on a less demanding project… everyone was happy with his work over there… we had the new guy who was doing great things for us… and ultimately I take credit for making a tough but correct decision at the time
(My boss is the ultimate authority on weather that guy (my colleague) was fired or not, but in typical cover your ass arab / governemnt / beauracratic practice… he had me initial the termination papers and signed it ‘based on my recommendation’ even though I really had no real jurisdiction over the guy… my boss just didn’t want to take the responsibility for such a call)….
Hey, I just fired someone last week. It was all me doing it. It was quite fun.
Pssf, I never lie!
Guess he’ll have to fast without a weekly paycheck, now. Oh, how mean!
@Meyrick Kirby
just for saying that, I know you are lying!
@Wilmaryad
yep!!
I agree with Haitham, its unethical to fire people on a Monday and compromise their dignity in the work place. He wasn’t meeting his job description criteria so they let him go. Oh well, plenty more fish in the sea will apply for his job. Get ready for a new colleague
How dare you say that
… you’re right of course, but still, how dare you say that
I AM TIRED!! IF I HAD TIME I WOULD REPLY PROPERLY AND WRITE NEW POSTS!! BUT I AM SO SO SLEEPY!
Wow…If the guy really was a cheat that is lame. I have found out very difficult to find an entry level job pertaining to my field in the past. Near impossible. I guess interviewers can also have bad judgement and evaluation skills.
i remember that i lied in my interveiw. it was the only way in order to get thas job. i knew that i made a mistake but i swear, this lie made me better employee cause i didnt want to be embaraced in front of my boss and my coleegs so i did the the doubled effort to prove that i deserve this job. furstuvale, in my work it’s obligatory to speak and write well spanish and i wasnt that good in writtin tasks i lied and in the interview when they asked me to write a piece of article in spanish i had it well prepered at home so it was kind of cheating lol. i tried my best to improve the weak ereas i succeded . now it has been a year in half in the same work i’m doing it perfectly and im getting better than those who got this work in honest way. i’m not defending those who r lieing, it’s an oweful thing to do. in my case i had the luck to get solve from the situation maybe cause i needed this work a lot so i did the best i could to get it.
