Ask and you shall receive!

By: Mona
.......................

It’s the time of one of those open ended posts!

So here it goes: you can ask me whatever you want. I will answer your questions to the best of my ability.

You can ask me questions about my personality.

You can ask me questions about my old posts.

You can ask me questions about the weather.

You can ask me questions about my life.

Etc.

Now amuse me!

    1. What inspires me to write is some event in my life that triggers the words to come out of my head and unto this blog.
    2. I am a computer programmer creating web applications. I like it only if I am giving absolute creative freedom. :)

So, what do you think of girls who like girls? I’m a Muslim woman who prays, fasts, believes steadfastly in religion, however i’ve always been attracted to girls (of course, never ever acted upon it).

I’ve read your blog posts and you seem pretty dismissive of same-sex attraction, not in the sense that your straight as of course if one is straight then their straight, but in the sense that it’s as if you don’t think or believe that it can genuinly exist. I think for me it’s a test of my willpower from God. The thing i struggle with however is when people deny the very existence of love that can happen between either two men or two women….non-platonic love….LOVE-love, as in the Qu’ran it basically says do not act on it, the sin is not a sin until you physically engage in it.

So it’s like, i’m not arab btw and i don’t know much about arab culture beyond the few arabs i know – but in my own south asian culture and what i can gather from arab culture, i just find it annoying that people deny the very existance of people like me, even though we’ve accepted that we’re not going to do anything to act on what we feel. I’ve researched into the issue and it’s permissable to not get married if there is some issue that you feel you cannot reconcile with…of course its preffered in Islam. But it’s the attitude of not accepting the existance which maybe will force me into an unhappy marriage situation, when id rather just be on my own than be with a man.

Anyway, perhaps i haven’t made sense here, if i haven’t explained properly let me know and i’ll try again.

I live in Canada and I see every kind of person out there. I have to accept them. Do I agree with them? No. Why? Because I don’t. Simple as that.

What inspires you in life? What keeps you motivated to succeed and never give up when you encounter an obstacle? What gives you happiness and fulfillment? Do you have a role model?

    1. What inspires me in life is people’s energy and the positive way they perceive life. I like to listen to someone who thinks life is easy breezy but just needs a little bit of a push every now and then.

    2. What motivates me to succeed is this selfish thing that I try to convince my self with. It is called believing in my self and that I CAN achieve whatever I want to achieve.

    3. What makes me happy is seeing someone else happy with my achievements.

    4. Nop.. no role models. I don’t need to look up to someone else. I need to look at someone else and say I can do better because I can.

Hi Mona. Its been a long time. Hope youre doing fine and all is good with the job and family. I might send you an email the next few days, regarding some matter.

Sorry this is off topic. I just finished watching on yt a BBC documentary series called Science and Islam (3 episodes, 18 videos == 3 hours), and thought it might be interesting to you. It shows how Muslims contributed to Science in the 8th-14th centuries before the European Rennaissance and before Galileo, Newton and Einstein. kind of overlooked achievements. Inspiring stuff :)

Hi. Love love love your blog ! I used to have a blog. It was basically the same as yours, where I expressed myself freely, but I got a load of crap for it from my folks so deleted it. Now just keep a photo blog of me hometown. Do keep on writing. Its wonderful :-) With much regards…A.
