I am racist
I got an email this evening from a girl who is half Arab half African who obviously has dark skin tone. She likes Arabs you know and wants to make friends with half her culture. However, the clan she hangs out with are dissing her calling her “Abda.” Big no no! No wonder Arabs are still backwards! She feels she doesn’t fit in because she ain’t dark enough to be black and not fair enough to fit in with the Arab crowd.
I don’t know why people are still dwelling over skin colour. I am dark. I am very tan. I am an exact replica of an Arab living in the midst of the Arabian peninsula. I define the olive dark tone of a real Arab.
White Arabs are fake.
Blah! My dad is fake and half my family is mixed by all those other civilizations that conquered my people. Being dark is awesome!!
Solidarity to the coloured!!

my finnince is tan (arab) n shes the most beautiful woman EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!(sorry about my spelling lol)btw i just have 2 say plz God she will be my wive soon ….
Black is beautiful ; whites are sensual.
Put a black and white together you get the thrill !!!
Inferiority Complex vs. Superiority Complex alert… do we need psychological sirens now?
Uhm.. “fake”?
What do you mean?
Like, artificially-lightened fake? Agreed.
But do you really think lighter skintone in an Arab is a sign of “non-Arab-mixedness”, and being dark is “the real thing”?
@Dina
Yep, hence I am racist.
I have been a victim like the girl who emailed me last night with such comments before. The comment I received from fellow Arabs in the past is, “Why are you dark? Arabs are not dark, especially Palestinians.”
So I have every reason to stand for what I wrote.
mona wallah i feel bad for you and please dont it as an insult
you really have no life
@shwag
I guess you are like me. We both don’t have a life because I write this crap on this blog and you read it!!
What if you were the fake arabs ?
You offended 50 % of the arabs , it is just racist !
don’t you realise that some arabs don’t choose to be white , or can’t get tan ?
Have you ever read about arabic slavery ? There is more chances that tanned arabs are fake
I don’t care how arabs look , but who are you to tell us we are fake ?
I am disappointed , I though you were a NEW GENERATION arab girl , but actually you’re not different than our fellow arabs that think being white is better ,
as you said “Being dark is awesome”
PS: I’m french , I know I made some mistakes . I liked almost all your article but this one is :down:
@Leyla
Lots of angry people here..
Now you know how I feel when others do it to you!
If it ain’t white, it ain’t right. lol
Well thats it! The only way this will be settled if everyone is DNA tested, measured, and analyzed to find the purest Arabs, who will then be given special status….hang on, this sounds eerily familiar, a bit like that guy’s ideas..what his name..Hitler I think?
I don’t care who is the purest !
Let me tell you something , mona , you think that racism is only against tanned people ?
My father is a sarhaoui from morocco , he is Black. And my mother is also from south but she is white as french people.
Arab sarhaoui always do racist comment on her ,like she is not a real moroccan , she must be an “algerian spy ” !
Just because she don’t look like the usual moroccan , who are consider to be dark .
I am 100% sure my father has black roots and my mother has portuguese blood but They’re both true arabs.
PS : Mais you ‘ll probably never find someone with PURE arabic DNA , maybe in a small village in the north of Yemen ?
@Leyla
Racism is not based on skin colour. It is based on majority rules mentality.
My article was purely regarding Arabs and the way they think of other darker Arabs and calling them names.
As for being Racist.. I can call who ever I want fake. Does it make a difference to you?
By the way, pure Arabs came from Arabian peninsula. They are olive skinned tone. Where they original came from? Who knows! I honestly don’t care.. my ancestors are Arabs, and those Arabs according to history did not have 100% pure white skin. They were not black, nor white, they were in between!
I am just happy being an Arab and speak the awesome language. Skin colour should be irrelevant…. people should LEARN THAT!
if anything makes any1 better then any1 else its there heart
I think you shook a few people. Including me
It is horrible to hear one is not a “real Arab”.
I agree with you that very light-skinned people most likely are not “pure Arabs”, most likely just like very dark Arabs most likely have Black African ancestry. Mediterranean people in general are rather dark – Southern Italy, Greece, Southern Spain, even Southern France.. so very likely you are right that most “original arabs” are tan. but not every tan person speaking arabic need be any more “original arab” than a light arab, because their ancestors could come from greece or armenia or spain..
i am a little uncomfortable with the topic, but you are right, it is (ab)used so often when talking to darker/more tanned people that it is probably something one needs to talk about.
even though I am rather light I find:
- it sad that light is automatically considered more desirable by many
- this especially since i agree that the original arabs very likely were not white
- there is a lot of self hatred in bleaching creams and trends, and it is a europeanization of beauty ideals that has happened in the past century in most formerly colonized or heavily western influenced countries of the east, not just arab countries.
overall of course i think who gives a sh** about being “pure”; most likely the people shouting the loudest about having such “clean” ethnic roots don’t in actuality. it is often like that. and how would it make you better anyway? you are not your genes, but how you behave. could be a very “pure” arab, and be a traitor, and work against your people etc.
I feel our genes are so mixed up that I believe it would be tough to find a set of genes that are _all_ shared by a single race.
Anyway, I think that genes are over-rated in one’s life especially racially.
Basically, I think that the whole notion of race is a waste of time, and I long for the day we become the human race, only, and everyone is treated well.
