Why won’t it change?
I still feel there is a mass denial of girls in information technology. I was even asked once in an interview why a girl (me) is in IT. Now that I think of it, why the IT society cannot accept it right away? I am really trying hard here to understand. I have been trying to understand for a long time this unfair assessment of us women in this field. We get paid less. We don’t get the proper attention and acknowledgement out of our work. I am just really sick of it. No wonder less and less women are going into this technical field. I should have stuck to Biology and I could have had my PhD by now and been a lab bum.
I don’t know what to do. I really wish I can start something that will turn out really big and not even have to worry about looking for a better job or working for anyone. However, my current employment is sucking the life out of me and I don’t have the time to be creative.
Arghh..
I am going relax and do nothing. Brain shut down for today.
Salute!
Blah Blah, Random Thoughts, Ranting as usual!, They said what?, Whatever!

Women have been in IT from the very beginning. You follow in illustrious, and aristocratic, footsteps.
@Meyrick
I know their history and power in the field.. but I don’t know what’s wrong with the way life is now.. that’s all.
I doubt the world was less chauvanistic in Ada Lovelace’s time, indeed I would imagine things were considerably worse. My point is not that “women have never had it so good, so stop complaining”, but rather, if women were able to triumph in the face of adversity then, you have a good chance of doing the same today.
I received this BUSINESS email from a pregnant women: first I laughed, then I admired her, then I felt sorry for her. end of the day WOW, God bless hard working women in IT or in any other field:
”
Dear,
Send me an email of all ur questions since I’m not able to have a skype conversation as my contractions started already.

On different note; ladies in IT are making success day after day : http://techland.time.com/2011/07/13/sorry-guys-girls-sweep-googles-first-ever-science-fair/
Hang on Mona, there will be the day u ladies take over, but hopefully u will not take Carly Fiorina as an example, she is horrible
That is a shady, and unprofessional question for an interviewer to ask. It’d be considered discriminatory in the states. I would have gotten up and left.
@Kam
I was more in shock when I was told that.. I didn’t know what to say.. I agree with you, I should have gotten up and left.. and I am good at doing that!
By curious coincidence, Ada Lovelace was the daughter of Lord Byron, who in turn was good friends with Mary Shelley, indeed Mary Shelley wrote her famous piece while on holiday in Switzerland with friends, including Lord Byron. Frankenstein is generally considered to be the first piece of literature in both the horror and science-fiction genres. So it turns out that it is a small world after all.
