Do you guys remember I am a programmer? Sometimes I seem to forget what my day job is. During the day I am a nerdy loser sitting in front of a big huge ass monitor with split screens coding away. I create magnificent pieces of functional art that people can use with a touch of a button, instead of them using the vintage methods of paper and ball point pens. Moreover, at night, my alter ego is the Rebellious Arab Girl who writes to save culture from permanent shame and ridicule.

Anyways, as an 80′s child, I don’t find technology strange at all. I grew up in the most incredibly evolving era in history, and I embraced the “aww” of it all. So why didn’t people who are 5, 10, 15 years older than me try to as well?

I have a serious problem with people not knowing how to use a computer. I have a serious problem with people who can sign up for Facebook and use every aspect of it, chat like there is no tomorrow on MSN, and send SMS using their cellphones like speed typing pros, but ask the stupidest questions like, “why isn’t this website working?” “Why isn’t my email working?” “The top navigation buttons were there, where did they go?”

Fuck, check your internet connection! Use the scroll bar! Move the fucking mouse up and down! Your computer did not die all of a sudden and the buttons didn’t disappear. It’s your brain cells that stopped functioning all of a sudden when a new unrecognizable screen shows up! Don’t be afraid of technology. Embrace it. Love it. Make it your BBF! Cause hell, if I had to judge your work performance, then don’t feel bad when I tell you that it is 2010! I don’t care if you are the smartest person in your field. If you can use the computer only when it is fun for you, then you better know how to use it when you have to type your new resume when I fire your ass!

Why do these people still have jobs? Why are they still sought after and hired? For their old unbeatable skills that well, never enhanced and are irrelevant for today’s technologically enhanced market?

When 2020 comes, if I still see people who know shit about computers and why “things” happen to work a certain way in some places, and different in others, then I will start a revolution. Mona against technology-impaired simpletons. And oh, I will win because I will get technology to do the work for me!

Lately, I have been feeling a big huge negative aura around me. However, I feel great inside. I think that I am on top of the world and I couldn’t be happier. So, why do I feel something is a little itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini not right?

I think I know why. I think that because I am at all time high, that eventually I will stumble down hill like I always do. Maybe that’s why I feel that there is negativity and I got to be careful about it. The thing is, there are no people around me to piss me off!

My mind cannot rest and relax. I am always apprehensive about something…

Moreover, I felt great about yesterday’s post. Yah! I felt like I am my old self and still had it! I didn’t want to lose my edge. I was fearful I was becoming soft and careless since I have been ignoring my other sites, occasionally keeping up with this humble blog, and being a horrible interactive social networker. I don’t know what happened to me. I think I was at an all time depression phase and never realized it. Why no one noticed it?

I miss my self. I miss who I was and not happy with what I have become. I feel like I am trying to aim to this one vague direction and ignoring everything else around me thinking I will reach that one destination. However, there is no destination. There is no point A to point B to point C. It is not a series circuit that I must follow. I don’t know what it is, but I cannot sit here and wait. I got to do something. Yah! That’s the spirit y’all!

Now where are those damn annoying blogger bookmarks in my browser gone to? I miss reading those shitty blogs. They make mine look like Febreezed manure!

What’s worse than enduring a break up? What’s worse than someone dying? Yep, you guessed it, working in a team is probably the most difficult thing you have to endure in your life. However, to survive it, you must follow the next very important personality adjustments and life style changes:

1. Smile when are given more work than you can handle.

2. Fake a huge smile when the work load becomes unbearable.

3. Roll your eyes in disbelief, sigh, murmur the most profane word you can think of, and then say with a smile, “OK!”

4. Just agree to avoid any tension.

5. When things go wrong, blame your self and say, “I will fix it!” Even if you had nothing to do with it, you fixing it will guarantee it will be fixed!

6. Don’t think you are smarter than the others in the team; no one is smart. You are only thought of as smart if you know how to play it right and take responsibility for your mistakes and others idiocity.

7. Make sure you are available at all times and always reply to any email pronto!

8. Always go to work early before anyone else. Sleeping in is only an option on the weekends.

If you followed the previous steps, I will 100% guarantee you the following outcomes:

1. Lots of gray hair.

2. Eyes starts twitching uncontrollably.

3. Eating at your desk.

4. Becoming less social and pleasant as a human being.

5. Migraine every now and then.

6. Lots of caffeine intake.

7. Food is no longer enjoyable but necessary as an energy source to work  … and work … and work!

The result of all this, well..

1. Makes the bosses happy.

2. Everyone else starts to look bad.

I came to the conclusion that no one is right. There, I said it. You are not right. I am not right. No one is right. So where did the basis of the right answer come from?

I cannot come up with the right answers because I am a human being basing every single word that comes out of my mouth as an opinion. I don’t know what is right. Why do you think you know? How do you know? Why do you think then you are right and I am wrong? Am I really wrong? Or my opinion just didn’t match yours and you cannot accept the difference?

One day, I looked above at the starry sky and made a wish. A Muna.. A longed for the truth. I didn’t want to live my life thinking he is right and she is right. If I did continue thinking that, then what is the point of life? Why should I follow someone’s right when I can come up with one too and think of all the other possibilities never mentioned?

I was bestowed with this burden of over thinking. I cannot stop it and for the life of me, and I cannot come up with a reason to stop thinking and let things be. I was just born this way. Deep down inside of me, I feel that I was born for a reason. I wasn’t born to just accept any answer but come up with my very own.

Try it. Come up with your own answers. If you do, then someone else’s obscure thinking won’t seem so bad.

By the way, since I am an Arab and I ended up living in the Western world, it does not mean that the reason I have a different opinion because I live here. I was just born this way. Since I was little, I was stubborn as a goat who hated even walking behind someone. This is me; accept it or leave it.

I saw a very good commercial today on TV from values.com. Click to watch video. The site has inspirational quotes and ideas to help everyone live their life in a more positive manner.

The commercial presented an angry man at his day job at a deli who couldn’t stand dealing with people and the customers. He was just having a bad day, and then a man came up to him and told him, “Hey excuse me!” The angry man said screaming, “WHAT!” The other man said, “Great sandwich! Thanks!” That instantly turned the man to a completely different person with a smile on his face. Some one complimented him today and his whole day changed!

The commercial affected me a lot, because I need a boost of confidence since I have been feeling so low about my life and the life of this blog. Therefore, when I feel like I had enough and I just can’t take it anymore, good positive people pop out of no where to put a smile on my face.

I received this email a couple of days ago from a lovely lady that complimented me and brought up a lot of good points about Arab life.

She said the following,

Gosh, how refreshing it is to see an Arab girl stepping out and sharing her mind. I’m not Arab, but my husband is. He’s very modern and a great father, I love him. But it saddens me that although I live in an area with tons of muslims/arabs, I don’t have any Arab female friends. In fact, when I go to the mosque, or their community events, I am avoided like the plague. I’m a very modest, very articulate and cultured woman. I dress respectfully and even wear a hijab when I enter the mosque.

So I always ask my husband – what is up with this?? I tire when I hear muslims in the USA complain that they aren’t treated well, but they don’t try to be a part of society. If they would live outside of their little boxes, get to know their neighbors and coworkers, maybe the general Americans opinion of them would change for the good. (Same goes for Canada or any country they have exported themselves to.) I love my husband and his family is wonderful to me. It’s just something I wish the Arab culture would change about themselves for the betterment of the global community.

Ok that rant said – you’re adorable and I love your posts. Keep it coming. There is no sin in expressing your thoughts – otherwise Allah would have created women to be robots that simply cook, clean, and give their husband sexual satisfaction without the work of thinking so much. Wake up world!

Now, I want to discuss her first point about the way Arabs perceive non-Arabs, and how they seclude themselves or think they are better than everyone else. I don’t know what to say. I have seen it. I know lots of non-Arabs that have been through this and have emailed me about it. Why does the Arab culture do this to non-Arabs? I don’t know. They will never accept the difference. Look at me. I am the most unique example out there. I am an Arab with a slightly (180 degree) different opinion that 95% of the Arabs, and I am hated and ridiculed by my Arab culture. The 5% who are like me somehow found their way to my blog, and end up sending me compliments or stories of how similar their lives and opinions are. Good to know. It’s really good to know I am not alone in this world.

Anyways, I can’t solve this huge problem, but I can help by voicing my opinion and tell Arabs that they need to accept the differences. God doesn’t judge Arabs differently than non-Arabs. We are all human beings in the end. Same goes for non-Arabs that think that way too. We are all the same and need to learn to live together and accept the DIFFERENCES!

Put a smile on someone’s face today. Point out the positives and compliment them.
