A few days ago I wrote about my best friend Lisa dad’s cancer situation. He had the operation two days ago, and a lot of things happened. I am just glad that they didn’t wait any longer. The cancer was spreading rapidly through his tongue that it spread an inch more.

I finally got hold of her today, and I chatted with her. This is what she said about the situation.

.> right now hes in intensive care unit

.> mona they took away 3/4 of his tongue…..the cancer also spread to his glands in his neck
.> and without a tongue u can speak…………he has to go to speach therapy while his trongue regrows in order to learn to speak again
.> his swallowing wont get back to normal
.> his sense of taste wont be back until maybe 6 months
.> his face is stitched up all underneath his jaw and side of his face and his mouth is a lil messed up

I can’t even imagine how hard this must feel. I just pray for her and her family to give them strength through this hard time.

Being discovered in the strangest manner is always a bad thing. Moreover, being discovered by someone you don’t know, is bad! Very bad! Who was watching me, and why? And why did they even bother? Was finding out who I was was such an important accomplishment?

The IP address and the whereabouts of that guy who was haunting me was driving me insane. It drove me so insane, that I emailed back demanding who he was, and how he figured out it was me. What a big mistake that was. Why? Because with that email, I just confessed who I was, and obviously when I am angry, I don’t think of the outcomes.

So the email was sent, and within 24 hours, certain big mouthed people knew who it was. How? But how? Another girl I knew, who had serious anger management issues and crazy misdemeanors has a copy of the email I sent to him. How? No clue. She sent it to me as proof so I would confess who the cute Arab girls where. I demanded to know how she know this guy who kept haunting me on a daily basis. She refused to tell. I didn’t understand why. Was this his way of winning? Was this his way of having fun?

News spread faster than Reuters within the Arabic community. The main source was his SISTER! The one I mentioned earlier that was aiding him by playing detective. The best line I got was, “Mona did it because she hates the Student Association. She has a grudge against them.” Etc. Etc.

Was it true? I did hold a grudge against them. I hated any organized group of friends that called them selves a club. It’s an awful shame because they had no objective but popularity and popularity. I wanted to take my revenge. I figured out eventually who it was who kept haunting me and spread the news. I didn’t understand why he did it, and why he bothered. I never liked him. I never had a 2 sentence conversation with him. So why did he bother?

I never understood it, but that was it. That is when I stopped playing games and hating these stupid groups of people. A club? You call that a club? A club of gossip, of spreading crap, and pointing fingers right away and playing detective!

Till now I never knew why he did it. I had no communication with him or bothered to ever talk to him. Although he was part of the popular group of kids. Maybe that’s why! It pissed him off that I never gave him the same attention as others. MEH!

I still played later with that email and the cute Arab girl for a few more days. There were the odd guys who were living in la la land from other Arabs, and had no idea that it was a joke. I ended it after a week!

The following day, the saga continued. We kept the game going because it was too entertaining. However, some people didn’t think it is funny at all, and took offense by it, well, only the females. The male comrades just wanted to “meet” the cute Arab girls. So, we set a date!

Every time a guy chatted with us, the only question they asked, “can we meet?” After the 4th or 5th time of pleading, I had to set a date. I said, “meet us tomorrow infront of the student community centre at noon.”

So you think it was maybe 5 or 6 guys that we set the date with at noon? Nop. Try 40!

The second day of our game was to only set up dates for the following day. Nothing exciting really. We had the few odd people who were notoriously pissed, but we didn’t understand why they took offense by what we did.

That evening, a girl that I knew, who was the younger sister of a couple of guys who were older than me, and at the time, I didn’t put two and two together at the time. However, she was the one of the few females that was determined to prove it was me. It is like she had nothing else to do with her time. She was playing detective, and she wanted to know the guilty person right then and now.

I ignored her because I didn’t want to say anything and blow my cover. She was ruthless and had her ways. She had her own clique of friends that she sent out to spy on me in the labs. I was a bit careful and I was able to install the second open source messenger on the machines and used it while the real me was online.

The following day, I did not chat as much, and I didn’t want to blow the story out of proportion. However, the story did blow up! It blew up so much, that we started getting numerous guys adding us to the messenger. They didn’t even go to the University, but to the community college or were high school kids. A few years after, I wondered why everyone added us, even from the college. So I talked to one guy that I knew who went there, and I told him the story. He said, “it was you? Everyone knew about the cute Arab girls! Everyone wanted to know who it was.” I asked, “how did they find out? And why did they bother.” He said, “well, you know who knew a few guys who went to the college.” I said, “so what?” He said, “well from your story, you knew he wanted to prove it was you in any way possible. Even if he told every Arab in the city.” I said, “excuse me? HIM!!”

That same day, before noon, I was sitting with my friend inside the community centre, and we were having coffee. We totally forgot that we set up dates and just laughed about the whole thing. Like who would actually show up? It was absurd and stupid if anyone did. So my friend told me, “look outside.” 3 or 4 Arab guys are sitting on the bench.” I said, “so what. They always do. They are smoking.” She said, “I guess.”

Few minutes passed, and we saw more guys coming. It was almost noon now, and we just sat there watching and counting. I couldn’t believe my eyes. A few minutes past noon and a lot more guys came. It was like an Arab mafia gathering. If it was in the US, people would have thought it was some terrorist gathering in the middle of a public smoking hangout.

My friend and I stared at one another, and laughed hysterically. We couldn’t stop laughing that we had to move away from near the door and go as far away as possible and laugh. They fell it. They really did.

An hour passed, and we had to go, and a few guys were left standing in the same spot. We ignored them and left.

Later that afternoon, we sat on the computers, and used that MSN account. The moment we went on it, a herd of guys came online and started talking to us in an angry tone. Some said, “where were you? I waited!” Another person said, “I thought I saw you, and I asked that girl if it was you, or one of you. But it wasn’t.” I couldn’t believe them. They waited for them?

Later that evening, I logged into that account, and someone added us that pissed me off. It was HIM! The anonymous guy that added me earlier that month that refused to tell me who he was. He said, “I know it is you Mona. I saw you in the lab with her. Nice game. Had your fun now?” I was angry and kept trying to make him tell me who he was. He left, and from my anger, I didn’t realize I had an email in my email box. I checked and it was him. He sent it a few hours ago saying he knew it was me.

I was very angry because I made sure no one saw us.

I told my friend and she said, “can you check where he sent it from?” I said, “yah. Of course, let me check the IP address.” I did, and it was in the same lab we were sitting in earlier that afternoon.

But how? We didn’t see him or anyone that we suspected? When did he come? We were watching the door.

Earlier that month of November, an Arabic guy at the University added me to MSN. I had no clue who he was, obviously he used a fake name, but he knew me. He really knew me in person and seemed to be infatuated with me, but refused to tell me who he was. I ignored him for a while because I thought it was a childish joke and I didn’t want to spend my valuable boring time with him. However, when we made that email, things changed and became more evident with whom he was.

So who were the cute Arab girls that we chose? What was the story that we had to agree upon that made the story plausible?

I am not that imaginative when it comes to names or nationalities of these cute Arab girls. So I made it simple. They were four girls that lived in the dormitory at the University. They are all international students of Lebanese origin, and they were all friends from long ago. That’s why they all used the same email. Yes, I know. Very cheesy, but you will be surprised how many “guys” fell for it.

So the story began, and we added almost every Arabic person we knew to the contact list. My friend and I both told the same story. At times she used the account, and at times I used it. However, I first used it sitting in the corner in the lab with her on my side laughing while executing the mischievous deed.

To our surprise, not many guys blocked us. Many were curious to know who we were, and why we added them. Some of them even sent us pictures of them selves asking for the return favor. I was a bit shocked, but to continue the game, I had to come up with pictures quickly. Knowing me and my internet search capabilities, I did the obvious thing any desperate person looking for pictures. I used Google! I didn’t Google for any picture of any girls. On the contrary, I wanted it to be so believable that I searched the following term: “Arabic girl picture ASA.” I made sure I got the girl’s pictures from somewhere far far away, like USA for example. So I found four pictures of pretty Arabic girls and sent it to whom ever wanted it.

Fake? No. Why would they be fake? They were so believable, that one guy believed that he has seen one of the cute Arab girls walking on campus the other day. He refused to believe other wise. He saw her. He saw her before. I kept thinking, what the hell? Is this guy for real?

Another guy that I added to the list was my mischievous friend. He was a computer geek and has done far worse things in the past to people than I ever did. I know, I witnessed it and laughed at many occasions. When he added us back, the first thing he said, “Hello cute Arab girl, or should I say Mona!” I said, “fuzz!! Don’t tell anyone it is me you freak!!” He said, “can I play?” I said sure, “here is the password.” I obviously told him the story and I knew he was cracking up so hard that his eyes were tearing from laughter.

Those are few of the incidents we had with males. However, what about the female Arabic girls’ reactions? What did they think?

Unfortunately, I was still part of the clique of the “known” Arabic girls on campus. Obviously, I added all the girls that I knew. Most of them were friends of friends or acquaintances. A lot of them didn’t block us at first, but did something worse. Something that made me wonder how the hell these girls were raised growing up! They started swearing at us, called us horrible names in Arabic and English and saying, “you are not cute, I am you bitch.” I was more than shocked. I just replied back saying, “just block us, no need for the foul language.” So, most of the girls on the list blocked us, and thank God they did, but some of them were pissed. So pissed that they tried every possible way to find out who it was. Some were smart and said, “is this Mona? Only Mona knows anything about computers. She is not online on MSN. So it must be her!”

What was I to do then?

Well, they knew Mona would do such a thing because she knew a lot about computers, but can she go on MSN at the same time? I did in the lab on the computer next to me, but was I able to do the same thing at home? With one computer? At home I tried something different. I found an open source messenger that you can customize it to chat with various messengers in one, such as Trillian. I was able to have Mona, my friend, and cute Arab girls online at the same time. Smart? Maybe. :lmao:

For a few hours it was fun, but I had watching eyes. Who saw us? Where did they see us since we were so cautious of our whereabouts while chatting? What else happened that made the whole thing blow out of proportion?

Blah Blah, Funny, They said what?, Whatever!

I have been getting many comments from people who randomly arrive on my site who read some of my old articles. That’s fine and great. However, a lot of people just get mad at something I said a year or two ago, and then think I am so closed minded for speaking about issues that concern my culture only and seem odd and not normal to everyone else’s. They state that I am not being an open minded person and so Arabic and that’s why I speak the way I am and think I am “rebellious,” and that’s not what a TRUE rebel person should be.

Ok, fine! Think what you like. I am not going to start talking about true “rebellious” issues that don’t concern me as an Arab. I will however, talk about issues that make me wonder why Arabs act upon them and it is not part of the way they were raised. We are a conservative culture, we cannot deny that. That does not make me closed minded! So I don’t understand why non-Arabs cannot understand that? This site is about a Rebellious Arab Girl and not Rebellious Girl.
