Anyways, forget that horrible cliche title. I want to know what you think of me by the following quotes that I adore. Do my favorite quotes really reflect who I am?

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon ‘em.” -William Shakespeare

“Change your thoughts and you change your world.” -Norman Vincent Peale (1898 – 1993)

“We have no choice of what color we’re born or who our parents are or whether we’re rich or poor. What we do have is some choice over what we make of our lives once we’re here.” -Mildred D. Taylor

“The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald

“A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” -Herm Albright

“When I look back on all these worries, I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened” -Winston Churchill

“If you wait to do everything until you’re sure it’s right, you’ll probably never do much of anything.”

“If you don’t like the way the world is, you change it. You have an obligation to change it. You just do it one step at a time.” -Marian Wright Edelman

I am the captain of my soul.”
-William Ernest Henley

Where do I even begin this one?

I know many of you have viewed me as the “pessimist,” but I can’t help being me. I am just this type of person. Surprisingly, there are many things that make me happy. I get excited really quick, and about just the little things really. Maybe that’s why I am a pessimist because I view certain huge things as annoying obstacles or just whatever you know. But the cute little things just make me oh so happy!

For example, I get excited when I buy new electronic gadgets. It drives me to extreme happy mode. It is insignificant, selfish and materialistic happiness, but dammit, we do what makes us happy. Even if they are things that cost an arm and a leg.

I also get excited when I see happy fun people. I don’t get jealous or say, “what the fuck is wrong with them?” No, I like to share their joy and excitement. I don’t know why, but I feel I want to be part of their joy in order to be joyful as well. Sounds gay and totally stupid, but it works.

However, if it makes you guys happy to send me emails (like this morning from subscribed fans) to tell me that you want to have fun and a fucking good time, then you need to wake up from your dream land, because that ain’t happening buddy. You guys are serious FOBS who can’t even write English, nor have respect to women. But oh, I am a pessimist again. You guys need to make me happy and joyful, not fucking annoyed.

Selfish people. Learn to be happy! (Rolling my eyes, and lying through my teeth!)

So, what makes you people happy? Cuz I need to feel the happy vibe in order to stay happy. Don’t you guys want me to be happy? Happy is happy does!!

I know, I know. I get so many people jumping on my back and I don’t know if my body can handle that many people, and no you sickos, DON’T IMAGINE ANYTHING right now. Thank you. So, the past week has been amazing. I was sick, my throat was making me sing a different tune, my head was aching, and I kept exerting stuff out of my body that didn’t seem normal. Yah I know, gross intro.

Then it was Tuesday or Wednesday, but I didn’t blog normally. I haven’t for a while really. I guess people expect me to comment regarding the fire in the Middle East. My homeland. My people! Dude! It is not a fire. It is just normal average people like you and I that thought really hard and said, “shit.. our lives suck because our rulers make us feel like shit, we ain’t got no money, and our countries have enormous resources that would make us happy people.. but who the hell is taking all the money? Why the hell we are treated like dirt?” Yada yada.. All of you know that in order to expect any type of change is to just think different, even just a tiny bit and just say it. Just state your opinion! If the dumb ass in front of you doesn’t want to hear it and think you are a piece of shit, then ignore and just stand for what you believe in. That’s what I call rebellious. Be different and tell others why you think that way. However, being killed cause of it is disgusting and the world needs to stop being so political and say we can’t do anything cause it is not our problem. Believe me, it will become the whole world’s problem when we can’t afford to pay for gas or buy anything! See what happens when Arabs get pissed?

Anyways, I have been a victim of ridicule and hate when I started this blog because DEAR GOD my blog was so full of sin and people hated me for you know, saying stuff on the internet. No one has to agree, but as human beings all we really care about is our dignity and others to respect us for who we are and what we think.

Now to get back to life. My life. Well, not really, but more of a general thought I have been thinking about a lot the past 2 weeks. You see, I always wondered what makes us bitter people. Like bitter in a sense of not caring or being so cold and resentful of others. In my case, I feel that people like to take advantage of my care free personality and overly kind actions. I can’t help but be nice to others. Then, all of a sudden, people around me change, and treat me like crap or last on their list and that’s it. What did they expect me to do then? Give them a hug?

I may be the bitter and the very sour person, and if I can go back in time and think a little bit differently, I would still do the same thing. It’s our dignity and self respect that we care about. If actions lead us to think negatively and become bitter about certain things, so be it. Why does it really matter to anyone? Honestly, I want to grow old and still be the same person with bitter thoughts about a lot of things. I like it. It makes me think. If one day I ever feel regret, then I give permission to visitor A-Z to hunt me down and shoot me.

Being rebellious in thoughts is a wonderful thing. But being totally out of it because of NyQuil the past week is even better!

As days fly by ever so swiftly, so does my lack of blogging attempts.

I have been sporadically posting on my blog to avoid problems. You see, it is me V.S the entire 250,000,000+ Arabs out there. No seriously. I am not joking. My blog is written in such a way that causes an entire culture to get pissed off.

1. I get the overly religious sect that think they are doing me a favour by reciting verses of Quran and Ahadeeth to enlighten me.

2. I get the overly cultural sect that think I am damaging their reputation by talking about “them.” (Self centered eh?)

3. I get the overly demanding neurotic Arab League (inside joke, har har) who want to tell me what to write since they fear others criticizing their opinions, so they do to mine because they love their one way streets.

4. And finally, there are the handful of young Arab ladies that think I can give them advice on how to solve their secretive relationship problems.

Here is my advice. Do not listen to some wacko Arab girl from up north in Eskimo land. (Oh Canada!) And don’t bother to tell her anything, because she is as stubborn as a mule.

Answers:

A1. Religion is important if you can apply it to your self first and not unto others. So going on some random Arab chicks website and insulting her is not a way to support your claim. Can you imagine if Muslims back in the golden days when they spread the beautiful religion did it by insulting others and forcing everyone to LISTEN and OBEY or ELSE. Do you think anyone would have joined in?

By the way, I was always a member, and never was out. So why you guys think I need to join in and learn!!

A2. My words are more powerful than Western Media to ruin an entire culture’s rep. I am an insider with tools to destroy!! (Sighing from disbelief from some people.)

A3. I can write whatever I want. I can write whatever I want. I can write whatever I want. If you want to start your own topic, then get your own blog and feel the wrath of the masses when they enforce their opinions on you!!

A4. My home girls from A-land. You see.. secret relations are no longer the trend. You either like a guy and tell the folks in your crib about it, or you just don’t. If you are not 100% sure about the guy, then that’s why you are hiding it. Otherwise you would spread the news faster than Reuters to the entire galaxy and extended family members with a set wedding date.

So there you have it. I am a pure thorn in most of your necks. And guess what! You still like it and you come here wanting to be pierced some more.

Some of you really love to put that sour icing on that moldy cake!

What did you expect? A blog about some badly raised, unethical, backstabbing, two faced, living a double life Arab girl? Sorry, I suggest you guys unsubscribe from my email newsletters and RSS if you were “thinking” that. I can’t offer that. I am a lazy girl, and I can’t bring my self to act with such fakeness.

I am not rebelling against culture, or made this blog as a secret diary. I could care less most of the time who reads it or it is up to standards to the rest of the world. I am not writing to satisfy anyone. I am writing for anyone who wants to read what I have to say. That’s all!

Objects in the Mirror are Farther than they Appear

If I describe to you how bad some Arab girls I knew in the past are, you would think I am lying. I knew girls that slept with more guys in a month than people in the Western world did in their lifetime. I think Sex in the City is a joke to them when they watch it.

I am not like that. I was not affected by the people around me. This Western life did not even rub its effects on me, and I have no reason to defy the way I was raised. I choose my own path in life. I even confronted some of those girls and told them, “Aren’t you afraid of diseases?” But obviously, they don’t care or ever think about it because their parents don’t know or even bother to discuss such issues. They assume they don’t need to or ever need to.

It’s a scary world out there, and so many Arabs, especially girls, have this perfectly innocent façade that they portray to the world. Some had abortions, some have diseases now, and some even ran away from their current life thinking their Arab traditional families won’t haunt them anymore.

I think some of you guys need to wake up and stop emailing me your crappy excuses. I am not what you excepted, and I will never be. And I am quite satisfied with being 29, single, and not having a possessive demanding fakely traditional Arab man in my life.

Oh, and if someone asks me why wouldn’t I go for a non-Arab one more time, than I will go to your house, smash down the front door with my long ancient Arab battle sword, and make you fall on your knees and say, “MONA!!! I WON’T GO ON YOUR BLOG SAYING SUCH A THING EVER AGAIN!”

I got a car and I will drive to your house anywhere in North America and demand a 3 course dinner! But if you live in South America, I demand hot Latino guys waiting for me to stare at as a compensation!

I have no idea why Arabs love to throw around religion, politics, culture and everything in between in a mixed pot of manure. No offense to all the lovely people out there, but seriously, give it a rest my dear Arab friends. No need to keep fighting a roller-coaster battle over something that ends you back where you started.

My last post regarding the new Miss USA seriously stirred a long debate. I was trying to be specific regarding one issue. An issue regarding a girl who won, and my view point of what happened after she won from the reactions online. How the debate turned from religion to culture to politics is beyond my comprehension. The extreme view points erupted out of no where, and honestly, what were you trying to get at? Reading what you guys have been writing back and forth made my hereditary Arab temper erupt wildly.

In the past, I was blamed for being the most inconsiderate catalyst to such debates, and was the most hated Arab blogger out there. Now, I wonder if I have mellowed down so much the past few months that I cannot handle such a debate, or maybe I am not trying too hard.

So, let’s debate.

1. What do I think of Hijab?

Well, I am a moderate person in faith, but not extreme in either way. I love how women choose what they want to wear, but I will never reach that point in my life where I will ever consider wearing a hijab. My choice really, and I choose to be moderate in what I wear, and never wear revealing clothing to grab any attention. I dress respectfully because I want to.

2. What do I think of Arab leaders?

I live in Canada because of them.

3. What do I think of extremist Arabs that will never change their mentality?

All I can do is educate as many people as I can through my blog to view life from two angles. Therefore, they can make an educated judgment to open their minds to other possibilities, but keep their moral values that I cherish so much from this culture of mine.

4. Do we have a right to judge others?

It is easy for people to judge others so quickly. Put your self in their place and feel that inner emotional pain that they suffer from when you keep insulting them. Pretend you are me and you write in this blog. Pretend you get many emails a day and comments from un-welcomed irrational inconsiderate fools insulting you. Then imagine your heart breaking not from the words they have written, but why they wrote them, their lack of intelligence, and you knowing that the majority of human beings out there are like that. Yet, you keep on going and you keep on writing, because you are bestowed by God’s gift of faith and patience.

5. Do I even like Arabs?

Here is the million dollar question. I will honestly say that I cannot stand 95% of the Arabs out there. I don’t even like hanging out with them because they judge others, only care about themselves, and always mix points A, B, Z, E, back to A together for the sake of talking and not thinking. Oh, and by the way, I am not laughing. As for that 5% of lovely Arabs that I adore so much, they are the ones that stand up for themselves and think outside the box. You can find them here on my blog, or out there in the world trying to make a difference in their lifetime, and for the honour of Arab history.

So what are you doing to make a difference?

If I have to really sum up Arabs in one word, I probably couldn’t. However, I can imagine an unstable wave in their lives with all that inner tension and grief in the following symphony:

Rating: 5.0/5 (6 votes cast)

I came to the conclusion that no one is right. There, I said it. You are not right. I am not right. No one is right. So where did the basis of the right answer come from?

I cannot come up with the right answers because I am a human being basing every single word that comes out of my mouth as an opinion. I don’t know what is right. Why do you think you know? How do you know? Why do you think then you are right and I am wrong? Am I really wrong? Or my opinion just didn’t match yours and you cannot accept the difference?

One day, I looked above at the starry sky and made a wish. A Muna.. A longed for the truth. I didn’t want to live my life thinking he is right and she is right. If I did continue thinking that, then what is the point of life? Why should I follow someone’s right when I can come up with one too and think of all the other possibilities never mentioned?

I was bestowed with this burden of over thinking. I cannot stop it and for the life of me, and I cannot come up with a reason to stop thinking and let things be. I was just born this way. Deep down inside of me, I feel that I was born for a reason. I wasn’t born to just accept any answer but come up with my very own.

Try it. Come up with your own answers. If you do, then someone else’s obscure thinking won’t seem so bad.

By the way, since I am an Arab and I ended up living in the Western world, it does not mean that the reason I have a different opinion because I live here. I was just born this way. Since I was little, I was stubborn as a goat who hated even walking behind someone. This is me; accept it or leave it.

I wrote similar posts in the past regarding Arabs and love, but I still wonder why the feeling of being in love is looked down upon in the Arab culture?

When two people are in love before marriage or being engaged then it is forbidden. In some Arab countries it is so looked down upon and honor killings are permissible in such situations.

Why is being in love wrong? Why were we given this uncontrollable feeling by God if it is wrong?

I know over the past 50 or 60 years, the Arab world has seen dramatic changes in the way “love” is perceived. However, love is still seldom discussed in the culture, but once it is on television, radio, magazines, or any form of media, then you see males and females melting in their little fantasy worlds. It is like something they will never feel without signing a paper first and the entire world knowing.

How can two people love one another if everyone else has to approve of it first? Who are they to know if it will work out?

I noticed that many Arabs that have lived part of their lives with this forbidden feeling have failed in their quest because of two things. Firstly, they hid it because the culture cannot accept such a thing. Secondly, no one can build an honest relationship if it was based on being secretive all of the time.

I know I am talking about something so big and tabooed in the Arab culture, but look at the outcomes. I seen so many wrong outcomes that make me wonder, what the hell? Didn’t you love him? Why did you end up with this guy that you don’t even know!!?

This is typical in a society where being matched by “the wise” ones is better than picking and choosing your own.

I am not talking about arranged marriages to none here. The divorce rate in arranged marriages is almost the same as none. So it doesn’t matter. I am talking here about those Arabs that give up their loved ones because society told them to.

I will be honest here, I was a victim of such an Arab mentality. I was rejected because I didn’t conform to traditions and rules. That’s why I look down on anyone that loses their love and ends up with someone that meets the society’s 10 point scale of perfection. We were not placed on this earth to find a person that meets our material point scales. There is more to life than being an object to be tossed around to meet someone’s artificial point scale.

The meaning of life has become an open book for everyone to read, but why are not many people embracing the simple wisdom?
