I feel good. I really do. I know it is very odd for some of you to read this, but dammit, I feel so damn fine! Only because I had enough and I complained. I went straight to the boss and told her EVERYTHING! I just got tired of some people’s constant anger and mockery. I just had enough. It is not my job to do their job and then get screamed at on top of that.

See what happens when you are a nice polite helpful individual? You get stomped on constantly! Therefore, my real New Year’s resolution was that I had enough and I am just gonna tell it like it is! I am just going to be upfront about everything because I can’t keep things inside me anymore. It got me no where in the past!

Ahh people, I don’t give a shit anymore. I want to live my life happy as happy can be! Is that too much to ask?

One of the guys that messaged me yesterday on Facebook messaged again today asking why I don’t talk to him much. So I replied back saying I don’t talk much and I didn’t think I was supposed to message him every hour. Also, he told me he was 36, but I saw his profile and it is 10 years younger. I just casually mentioned it and said it might have been a typo and I am here but I am not a very talkative girl.

Therefore, this is the reply I got and I was like WTF is wrong with men!

Doesn’t matter, dear. Don’t get me wrong. It’s about your cold and arrogant attitude at that point in time. I felt it and it didn’t feel very good.

So then you are saying you talked to me like I am an idiot just because you “thought” I was younger than you. Are you the type that judges men by their age?

Usually that type is self sufficient and plus they do bad things themselves, thats why they are that judgmental.

Maybe you are the type that dates black guys (sorry but this I don’t like)…just like you women are prejudiced about age.
Maybe you sleep around with you canadian office people. you know office mentality.
You look like you are single. So maybe there is a good reason for that.

So never mind my age dear.

don’t i have enought life experience for a 36 y.o. lol I have been places and i know people…but I always give them a chance to improve, especially the first impressions.

And I replied to him saying:

Wow. I love your judgment. By the way, I was talking to you back and forth before I added you and I didn’t even know or care about your age. You mentioned your age, and I saw your profile and it didn’t match. Therefore I mentioned it. If you took offense of it and then judged me to the most extreme sinful disgusting point of anyone’s life then sorry I even mentioned it.

I am sorry I even bothered or replied to you. And thank you for judging me.

Emirates Palace hotel in the United Arab Emirates erected a 13 metre Christmas tree adorned with $11 million worth of jewels. They now regret it. Is the tree in bad taste or should we loosen up and enjoy the elaborate gesture?

The folks in Abu Dhabi have received international attention after luxury hotel Emirates Palace decked out a 13 metre Christmas tree with $11 million worth of jewels. The government news agency has now issued a statement saying they regret the “attempts to overload the tradition” of decorating a tree for the holiday season. The statement was issued after critics condemned the tree as being in bad taste.

At first this story did not compute for me. Emirates Palace, a hotel in a predominantly Muslim country, has erected a giant, jewel-covered Christmas tree?! Something has gone awry in the world. It turns out that in the United Arab Emirates many hotels follow the tradition of putting a tree up in the lobby, to make visitors from abroad feel welcome.

I can appreciate the gesture though the irony of it leaves me wondering if extreme cultural sensitivity only occurs in Canada. Here, schools are removing ‘Santa’ images and have replaced the term ‘Christmas concert’ with ‘winter concert,’ leading some to speculate about our country’s cultural compassion and its ability to kill Christmas. Meanwhile in the Muslim country of UAE, publicly displayed Christmas trees are commonplace.

That said, this particular tree – described as the most expensive tree in the world – is a gaudy, tacky, tasteless PR stunt. I understand an ambitious attempt to get into the Guinness Book of Records, but if you were decorating a tree to truly show your holiday spirit, perhaps you’d be better off with a tree that is dressed by the community and not an overzealous jeweler.

A more modest tree might have done a better job of not rubbing in the fact that you’re one of the wealthiest cities in the world. Abu Dhabi holds 9% of the world’s oil reserves. We get it. You’re rich. You’re really rich. No need to shove it in our faces, especially not during a time when the emphasis is meant to be on giving. There are so many better ways to spend $11 million.

If the hotel and the country truly wanted to draw positive attention to themselves they should have donated a large portion of the $11 million to the countries starving labourers, who for twenty years have worked tirelessly to build the UAE up to its current state of metropolitan glory.

Oh the poor people of my home land Palestine. That money could have fed a family or two for the next couple of centuries.

It was the night before the first day of winter, I was sitting on the sofa, and I excitedly told my mother,

“MOM!! I am going to be 30 soon!”

She disgustingly looked at me with her Arabic mother wrath and said, “AND YOU ARE HAPPY?”

I defended my age and said, “Yes, I will be 30. So what? What’s wrong with aging?”

She said, “people are never happy to age.”

I knew in the back of my mind what she was thinking. But it ain’t my fault I am going to be 30 and still living at this house, paying for all the home expenses cause no one else works here because the economy sucks and we are barely surviving, and my sister needs to grow up and have a normal life, not like me! Oh, did I mention I am going to be 30 and there is nothing wrong with that?

I said, “You know what. Life is not going to stop. We cannot stop time and stay in one age that we like. Some people who are dead didn’t have the opportunity to live a full life where got to live their childhood, their adult life or old age. A lot of people don’t get that opportunity. So I am HAPPY REACHING THIS FAR!”

I don’t care how many people make fun of me and mock my age. Even some people at work wonder why I still live at home or have not found “the one.” I never reply, and I honestly have more important things to worry about in my life than a number that is calculated by the rotations of the earth around the sun every 365 days of the year.

By the way, Happy first day of Winter! Winter is here and I survived another year to see it! Now that is the greatest gift of all.

P.S. My Birthday is on the 23rd. Totally Monalicious!

Happy, Thank you, They said what?, Whatever!

I have been pulling my self out of bed every day to go to work, and I work in the symbolic building of my city. You can see it from the airplane!! Well, you can see many buildings from the airplane, duh! Anyways, to get to my measly point, my building if pretty huge and has over 20+ levels. For my city that is a lot! So you can imagine how many companies are in that building and how many employees. Not a bad number eh?

So, as I dazzle around the building from time to time, and going up and down a lot, I noticed one small detail. I am good at observing things and the people around me, but one thing I noticed, ehm, there are no mohajabat (wear scarves) ladies at all. You know what else, I don’t think I even observed any Arabs or a distinct Arab. I would usually over hear someone with a very loud voice speaking on the phone in the mother tongue, but either they are hiding, or my building is missing people? Well, I have not seen anyone that has a unique cultural or religious attire or anything!

I ain’t white! Don’t get me wrong, nor do I have a symbol that distinguishing me from the rest of the building employees. I actually look like a programmer bum who does not belong there at all! So, ehm, what gives? I always thought it was weird, but I guess living in a multicultural society, seeing such a noticeable thing is quite unusual.

Maybe I need to work harder so I can move up in life and hire different people, and especially my home grown peeps.

Life kind of sucks when you notice these things in your society and daily routine.
